casablancas Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Tater Peeler's ratings: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10311083/england-player-ratings-peter-taylor-gives-his-verdict-on-russia-match Hart - 6 Walker - 8 Smalling - 7 Cahill - 7 Rose - 8 Rooney - 8 Dier - 9 Alli - 8 Lallana - 8 Sterling - 8 Kane - 6 Wilshere - 7 Milner - 6 Alli and Sterling 8's?! The actual fcuk? This guy gets paid to discuss his near lack of football knowledge? Id do it for a quarter of the pay and talk 3 times as much sense. Sterling was absolute dross and that's putting it kindly ... I think the only way to sum up Kane was Engkand played with 10 men all game. With some fcuk wit taking corners and each delivery clearing the far side of the box.
RowlattsFox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Dier has MOM for me, not just for goal. Rooney was decent but I think some have gone over-board with praise. Walker was good too. Lallana is frustrating because he is decent to a point, but zero end product. Thought Sterling started brightly but was shite after that, zero confidence. Worst I've seen Kane play and he should have been pulled, if not vardy then Sturridge should have come on.
Samilktray Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 I must be the only 1 who thought Rooney had a very ordinary game. Looked like didn't know where to be positionally half the time
Collymore Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Anybody else getting infuriated with Kane's insistence on taking corners and freekicks. My blood pressure boiled as corner after corner sailed over everybody and his freekicks were utter ****. Thankfully Rooney pulled rank in the end but this is something that needs to change permanently going forward.

I'm telling you there's some sort of conspiracy, the FA has paid off pundits to be overly complimentary, hoping it will lead the supporters to convince ourselves England are world-beaters, like sheep. That ITV commentary was bizarre

Guest Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Hart -3 Walker - 6.5 Smalling - 6 Cahill - 5.5 Rose - 6 Rooney - 6 Dier - 6 Alli - 6 Lallana -4 Sterling - 3 Kane - 2 Wilshere - 3 Milner -3 WOY - 1
Webbo Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Hart - 5. Nothing to do all game, but when he was called on he went wandering into nomans land. Walker - 7. Thought he had s pretty decent game. Got forward well and looked solid. Smalling - 5. Didn't have a lot to do, but again like Hart when he did have something to do was found wanting. Cahill - 6. Like Smalling, not much to do, but he didn't make a mistake. Rose - 6. Actually defended ok when called on, which is usually his weakness. Got forward well but was wasteful with the final pass. Dier - 7. Good solid display. Passed the ball well too. Great hit for the goal. Rooney - 7. Decent display. Didn't do much wrong and got forward when he could. Dare I say I thought we still looked better when Wilshere replaced him. Alli - 1. Did he play? Lallana - 7. Glimpses of some good stuff. Should have scored first half. Would prefer him more central, at the tip of a diamond, his lack of pace becomes evident out wide. Sterling - 2. Just running forward a bit won't do. He got into great positions but does he just think players will move out the way for him? No end product all night just positive runs ended by him running into people. Kane - 0. I'd give him minus if I could. Awful night. No touches in the Russian box. Shit corners. Shooting from anywhere. Spent half his time on his arse because apparently drawing a foul is better than releasing one of your team mates to run on goal. Subs Wilshere - 7. Kept the ball well. Made some positive runs and passes. He's a quality midfielder when he's fit, it's just keeping him fit. Milner - 5. He gets 5 because it's not his fault he was the wrong sub. No idea if he did his intended job well because I've no idea of Woy's intention in bringing him on. Woy - 0. Picked a team to play pretty but ineffective football. Created little of note all night but wasn't brave enough to change his attacking players. When we did get a lead, he didn't kill the game off. Instead let Russia come back at us. Can we sack him mid tournament? These are the fairest ratings on here although Sterling was at least a 6.I can't understand why Kane is taking corners. If they were brilliant maybe I could but they were very average. I would have brought Vardy for Kane or Lallana, I can understand why Milner was brought on at the time, a little bit more defensive than Sterling. I know we conceded after he came on but that doesn't mean it was the wrong decision.
casablancas Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 It does feel as though an air of propaganda about it. Our frailties being overlooked and a few positives being overhyped. I'll always be a leicester fan and an England fan second, but the rose tinted goggles are making me want to vomit. Someone needs to come out in a position of somewhat authority and make it clear that performance was unacceptable. As for Redknapps view that Englan will outclass Wales? I'm dubious.
Lionheart10 Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Sterling is genuine dog s hit. Seriously, he's terrible. He has no footballing brain for a start. Exactly right, anyone who thought he was going to turn out to be something special is deluded.
Socks Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 its not the players its Woy he's fooking useless and its not just him picking the team, there are other ppl pushing their nose in too who are just as useless everyone gets a 5
ScouseFox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Sterling at least a six Webbo lol lol Top trolling. the daily mail gave him a 7. kane a 6.5 and alli a 7.5 with a description saying he was a boy wonder who oozed quality. i can't even remember him touching the ball.
apple987 Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Sterling wasn't as bad as everyone is making out in my opinion. He actually has the potential to be a top player. For me his best position would be in behind the striker. The number 10 role. Pass to him in tight spaces and he can find space and put a little ball in for the striker or bring the wingers into play. I reckon this will end up being his position in years to come

apple987 Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Walcott mk2 Years of saying he has potential to finally just realising he's not very good Hes only 21 2 years older than Ben Chilwell to put things into perspective
foxfanazer Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Hes only 21 2 years older than Ben Chilwell to put things into perspectiveThink he believes his own hype from that season where Suarez made most people in that Liverpool side look world class. Hope he fulfils the expectation but I have my doubts. Been largely rubbish for Man city last season
ScouseFox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 in 2014 sterling was the best young player in europe, if not the world. it's completely bizarre how he now can't get in his club side ahead of jesus navas and people are (probably rightly) confused as to why andros fu cking townsend isn't in the national team ahead of him. what the hell has happened?!
Dodgy Bob Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Sterling was very very poor. His "great counter attack" as Glenn Hoddle called it epitomised his performance, when he had acres of space to run into and all the time in the world to decide what to do, but contrived to run straight into a defender having not made a decision about what to do. Of all the players who have achieved royalty status in the England team, only Dele Alli deserves it any less than Sterling.

Julian Joachim, Levi Porter, history is full of quick, skilful looking young forwards whose careers nose dive. I reckon sterling will be loaned out by Man City soon and will probably end up moving to someone like West Ham for £5m in two years time.

PhillippaT Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 The main thing I felt whilst watching was just how out of place most players looked compared to the so-called formation Woy had supposedly instructed them to obey? Walker as a right wing-back getting up the pitch? (and then failing to cross it to anyone that mattered.) Lallana as a right-side striker/number 10? Where was Alli supposed to be playing again? At least Sterling attempted to play as intended - as a left-side winger - even if it was beyond his ability Sterling was very very poor. Was that the time he tried to nutmeg the defender and failed dismally? I remember that (He's not Mahrez, that's for sure, regardless of what he (or anyone else) thinks )
