Sterling and Kane should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves after that rubbish.
Dodgy Bob Posted 11 June 2016 Posted 11 June 2016 Hart - 5 Walker - 5 Smalling - 5 Cahill - 5 Rose - 5 Rooney - 7 Dier - 6 Alli - 4 Lallana - 5 Sterling - 2, like Jeff Schlupp only smaller, weaker, slower, less intelligent and worse on the ball Kane - 2 and that's being generous, did nothing well in the entire game, even the simple things, and didn't get close to a scoring position at all Milner - 2 Wilshere - 3 Hodgson - 0 should be arrested for treason

Guest kristianity77 Posted 11 June 2016 Posted 11 June 2016 I'm not gonna rate them but what I will say is tonight is a f***ing shame because this team is much better than that (whether Vardy start or not). They are just being driven by an absolute dinosaur in football and its so embarrassing.
stevelcfc Posted 11 June 2016 Posted 11 June 2016 Kane was absolutely abysmal, as for Woy, what goes through his mind? Its not anything football related anyway.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Hart - 4 - No man's land for the goal and what he was doing at the end I've no idea. Doesn't fill me with half as much confidence as he used to and I fancy Forster or Butland to usurp him at some point in the 2018 qualifiers Walker - 7 - I thought he was pretty good and actually looks fairly tidy with the ball at feet, got forward very well. Smalling - 5 - Untested Cahill - 5 - See Smalling Rose - 6 - Got forward well, still think he's clumsy as a footballer though; would prefer Bertrand or Cresswell but they pay for the wrong club sides. Needs to cut out the needless fouls and remember that defending is still part of the game, even for an attacking full back. Rooney - 8 - I thought he was outstanding tonight, particularly first half. Dier - 7.5 - Another positive, robust, efficient, great hit for the goal. Alli - 4.5 - Poor I thought, glimpses of quality but anonymous for the most part. Lallana - 6 - Sharp first half, faded second (as did the side). Sterling - 2 - Positive dribbling and the right intentions but he isn't quick and his decision making is atrocious. I', not a massive advocate of Andros Townsend but I'm not having that we'd be worse off having him in the side than Sterling. Wasted opportunity after opportunity, what happened to the kid who broke through at Liverpool? Kane - 2 - Crap. Ponderous, offside, poor touch, wasteful. Should've been hauled after 60. Wilshere - 5 - Looked to do some nice stuff but didn't really have enough time to impact the tie. Milner - 2 - Can't remember him doing anything but give the ball away and trip up. Roy - 3 - Actually looked well set up but his management of the game was pathetic. The Milner substitution sums up his tenure as does the decision to take one winger and five strikers then set up in a 4-3-3, it just completely limits your options. Harry Kane on set pieces needs to stop being a thing immediately. All in all the last gasp equaliser has meant that everything has a slightly more negative spin on it, there are some positives to take. Dier looks at home, Rooney performed in a midfield three and we created some reasonable openings. But the inevitability of it all is getting quite tiring. Milner was brought on to sure things up and Tyldsley hailed his "tournament experience." Experience of what? First round knock out exits and group stage humiliation? We should be moving away from that, we have such an exciting, young crop of players who are used to big game occasions and we bring on James ****ing Milner to sit back against a weak, weak Russia side. Any sense of enthusiasm about what is a genuinely talented pool of players is completely stifled by the manager who is so cumbersome in changing things up it's frightening and that's what seems to be the biggest shame.
foxfanazer Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Says something when Kyle Walker was our best attacking player
GaelicFox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Good evening Leicester what a lovely evening Now here are The votes from the Dublin jury Hart - 1 Walker - 1 Smalling - 1 Cahill - 1 Rose - 1 Rooney - 1.1 Dier - 1 Alli - 1 Lallana - 1 Sterling - 1 Kane - NIL POINTS Wilshere - 1 Milner - 1 And the 12 points from the Dublin Jury goes to (drum roll) ROY Hodgson- 12 LOL

Harry Kane on set pieces needs to stop being a thing immediately. Summed it up perfectly.

Jimothy Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Hart - 5. Nothing to do all game, but when he was called on he went wandering into nomans land. Walker - 7. Thought he had s pretty decent game. Got forward well and looked solid. Smalling - 5. Didn't have a lot to do, but again like Hart when he did have something to do was found wanting. Cahill - 6. Like Smalling, not much to do, but he didn't make a mistake. Rose - 6. Actually defended ok when called on, which is usually his weakness. Got forward well but was wasteful with the final pass. Dier - 7. Good solid display. Passed the ball well too. Great hit for the goal. Rooney - 7. Decent display. Didn't do much wrong and got forward when he could. Dare I say I thought we still looked better when Wilshere replaced him. Alli - 1. Did he play? Lallana - 7. Glimpses of some good stuff. Should have scored first half. Would prefer him more central, at the tip of a diamond, his lack of pace becomes evident out wide. Sterling - 2. Just running forward a bit won't do. He got into great positions but does he just think players will move out the way for him? No end product all night just positive runs ended by him running into people. Kane - 0. I'd give him minus if I could. Awful night. No touches in the Russian box. Shit corners. Shooting from anywhere. Spent half his time on his arse because apparently drawing a foul is better than releasing one of your team mates to run on goal. Subs Wilshere - 7. Kept the ball well. Made some positive runs and passes. He's a quality midfielder when he's fit, it's just keeping him fit. Milner - 5. He gets 5 because it's not his fault he was the wrong sub. No idea if he did his intended job well because I've no idea of Woy's intention in bringing him on. Woy - 0. Picked a team to play pretty but ineffective football. Created little of note all night but wasn't brave enough to change his attacking players. When we did get a lead, he didn't kill the game off. Instead let Russia come back at us. Can we sack him mid tournament?
Aus Fox Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Why oh why is Harry Kane taking corners?? There is no excuse for being offside that often at this level, I would understanding of he was running over the top and just went early sometimes, but Kane was standing in offside positions, like a kid who didn't fully understand the rules. I don't mind Kane, and I would love to see him firing but that performance was unacceptable at any level, let alone the highest level. Thought Dier was great, Rooney finally has a great game for England and it's now Roy decides to bring him off why. And sterling off to be replaced by Milner just handed the Russians a big boost, they knew at this point we had shut up shop.

Could not agree more about this bit in particular. Know in a bit different but reminds me of when Raul was dropped by Aragones for the Euros 2008 squad and he was questioned by journalists about why he didn't go given his experience. His response was 'How many tournaments have we won with Raul? None.'
Saxondale Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Sterling is genuine dog s hit. Seriously, he's terrible. He has no footballing brain for a start.
onekeithweller Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 I felt sorry for Kane, it was obvious from the first couple of minutes that he wasn't at the races and that Hodgson shouldn't have started with him, he should have been subbed at h/t; I can only assume that Vardy, Sturridge and Rashford are all injured.
Raw Dykes Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Tater Peeler's ratings: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10311083/england-player-ratings-peter-taylor-gives-his-verdict-on-russia-match Hart - 6 Walker - 8 Smalling - 7 Cahill - 7 Rose - 8 Rooney - 8 Dier - 9 Alli - 8 Lallana - 8 Sterling - 8 Kane - 6 Wilshere - 7 Milner - 6 Alli and Sterling 8's?!
Fox92 Posted 12 June 2016 Posted 12 June 2016 Thought Walker, Dier and Rooney were the better players. Felt slightly sorry for Kane, if Hodgson can't see he needs Vardy up there with him then I wonder what he's watching. As you all know I'm a big fan of Wilshere and he kept the ball so well when he came on. I think he offered more in 10 mins than Alli did all game.
