Countryfox Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 I will keep an eye on local press. Normally more reliable than the Star and Sun/Mirror etc. Local press (Mercury) say we are still after him ... battling it out with Bayer Leverkusen.
mozartfox Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Nothing new to report other than he is on holiday. Same version of us and Bayer04 offering same (15mil) but DK wanting 7 mill. more.
dbtcity Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Be disappointed if Hernandez plays RB. Personally not huge fan of centre backs playing full backs, see WBA Up until the last couple of seasons he's been predominantly a right back though.....
MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 I find it staggering that people judge a player based on two games. Granted, his expulsion in the Hungary game was the consequence of a silly movement (and foul) and the nerves got to him when he missed that penalty against Iceland. However, almost all of the Austria squad couldn't live up to the expectations, looked jittery and lacking stamina. So, I wouldn't be so quick to pass judgement on a rather young and promising centre-back. On the other hand, it makes you wonder how many centre-backs we're still going to sign. At one point, you've got to admit that we've got it covered.
bald reynard Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 First choice Centre Back target, now we've pulled out of the Keane deal ? Especially if Tanner's saying there's no mileage in the Ragnar Sigurdsson story. The £12m / £15m we were expecting to pay for Keane, would go a long way to helping us beat Bayer to his signature.
mozartfox Posted 1 July 2016 Posted 1 July 2016 Local paper saying Leverkusen will only pay 10mio Euros and DK as we know want 20mio. So if we want him, looks like we can have him if we offer a bit more? Real offering 65 Mio for Alaba, apparently and he is nothing special. That makes Kante a steal at 20 Mio.
mozartfox Posted 20 July 2016 Posted 20 July 2016 Looks like his move to Bayer04 is off.. Rudi Voller only prepared to offer 10m and DK still not dropping their pants.. If we genuinely wanted him, I reckon DK would do business as RV has mega pissed them off according to local press reports.

Other than that, we have Amartey (not a cb), Fuchs (not a cb) and Moore, (who might now be considered a cdm). A fourth, actual cb, would be a welcome addition, especially as half of our defence is over 30 as it stands.

And 36-year old Wasil is probably in his final season, It'd be silly not to bring in another CB.
Lambert09 Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 We are only an Injury and a red card away from a sticky situation. Especially with the extra games, one more centre half is needed imo
WiFoxes Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 I'll just echo what everyone else is saying and say that another CB would not at all be a bad thing. Is it a luxury right now? Maybe. But a little youth at the position can't hurt moving forward.
Darkon84 Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 It wouldn't be a bad thing, and someone of Dragovic's ability would go pretty much straight in to the team. If it's possible, get it done!
m4DD0gg Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 We defo need a new CB. Whilst Morgan and Huth are the gold standard any injuries and suspensions and we are stuck with the maniac and someone unproven who played for a kack team in spain.
TMELcfc Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 De Laet out and a new RB would still my preferred dealings, rather than another centre back. Amartey played centre back in Denmark, so there's a fifth choice or Liam Moore. De Laet as our back up RB worries me to death though...

The maniac that has made one mistake people can think of, been assured 95% of games and never been sent off for us? What a liability Was is...

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 Don't think we're interested if we were more rumours would of been flying around.

Amartey CAN do a job there but I'd rather have a proper CB, considering we're playing at the top table this year. Liam Moore is absolute garbage and De Laet hasn't even been taken back by a team that's only just been promoted, which should tell you enough. I've always liked him, but we need better.

But aren't Hernandez and Was centre backs? How many do you want? IF one of them got a long term injury I admit we'd be a bit short, but there are areas that concern me more. Especially if Ulloa goes now...
Darkon84 Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 Was is only on a year contract, and as much as I love him, if there's an opportunity to get someone in of far better quality, at a good age and good price, we should probably do it, looking to the future. I want aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the centre backs! Give them to me!
MC Prussian Posted 26 July 2016 Posted 26 July 2016 Has reportedly joined Bayer Leverkusen now, although the club has denied any agreement has been met (not for the sums mentioned in the media). Sure. Happy Aranguiz!

That was one of his best performances for us. He was out of the team for months but slotted in perfectly and did his job just as well as Huth would have done. Calling him a liability makes it sound as though he's costing us goals left, right and centre. He made one mistake that cost us. On this basis, Mahrez is also a liability.
