why wasn't he at the Celtic game?

Has he gone to the states?

If not what's happened?

I thought he had a very good second half against Oxford. Bossing the midfield once Drinky went off.

Could be anything but I would guess that he's meeting a Championship team to agree a loan spell.

I hope not. He's too good for that. we need him in our squad.

Just wondered if he'd picked up an injury or if we'd been told he was coming back slowly.

Apparently he had an illness on Saturday hence him not playing.

No idea if he went to the States.

Matty James will be a big loss for us if he does leave, we need to keep a hold of this lad. Young and improving all the time. Don't want to see him go and be successful elsewhere - sort of dependable bloke that you want to have in your squad.

Bit concerned by this if I am honest, He was due to come back before the end of the season but then got injured again and we didn't see him. He then comes back, plays half an hour in a pre season match and then gets an 'Illness' so cant travel. Probably reading into this too much and it is pure speculation but still, disappointing for him.

Looked poor and obese to me, but understandable since he hasn't played in a while. I reckon Ranieri wants him out on loan and we'll get another CM in. Lower-Prem side loan would do him good.

hahaha 'obese'! He's carrying a bit of timber but he's always been pretty heavy. Agree about him looking poor though - i think he's a lower to mid table prem player. Not sure about him getting any higher than that. Doesn't score many and isn't the most mobile of people. Both of these things hold him back imo.

It says a lot about the lad that he wore the captains arm band in the Oxford game in the 2nd half. He's well regarded at the club, he's only 25 and is popular in the changing room. Only way he leaves is if he wants to leave.

25 is hardly "young". He's injury prone which is a big shame but we can get better quality in now.

In general it is, but not when we're talking about footballers really.

i knew you'd come back with that, i agree, in football he's no spring chicken but even so 25 is young for a player.

just my opinion mind:thumbup:

Best years ahead of him though. He's a late developer who has not yet reached his prime, and I don't think he's injury prone just because he had a bad one.... He'd been playing consistently for us since 2012 minus a minor pre-season injury one year

People who've met him say he's a great guy, so I'd absolutely want him to get better and contribute but I hardly think he'll be a big loss.

How do you define injury prone then?

He played damn well for us until his injury and I thought he looked very good in the second half against Oxford.

Having him back from injury is like having a brand new signing for free. We all know what he's capable of and what him and Drinky are capable of together. What he lacks is game time apart from friendlies and a few U21s so he's behind basically everyone in the pecking order. We should loan him out to another PL side for 6 months so he can get back up to speed. Maybe Hull?

How do you work that out?

The leaps and bounds he made between the ages of 21 and 24 here. Some players are as good as they're going to be at 21

I remember when Aaron Ramsey went on loan to Cardiff in the Champ and came back to be a top class CM. No problem to get his fitness back in the Champ and come back for me.

I think 'injury prone' is a bit harsh, the knee ligament thing was he only major injury wasn't it? I'd want to keep him for sure but I think a loan to fast track him back to match fitness would be good for all involved. Send him to NP for a few months.

 Bossed the midfield ?!?

You must have been watching a different game to me as he looked well of the pace totally rusty and overweight. That is not a dig at him as its to be expected as he's been out for long time,  but bossed the midfield let's not get carried away
