being out with a long term injury he needs match fitness and games under his belt to rediscover his form, he can do that either on loan to a club that will play him regularly or be given games here maybe in the under 21's

Any idea why his fitness is taking so long?

He has played in pre season so there shouldn't be any injury problems, is he generally just having a problem getting fit?

He's a better option than King in a midfield duo, but are Mendy and/or Amartey similarly good or better options than James?

Pearson was subject to an initial gagging order, from the clubs point of view im not sure they would want a player that could be back with the first team squad going out on loan with a Ex manager who was sacked, why would they risk negative input on that player and then return him to the first team squad?

I think your over thinking it. Yes he was gagged but that was before he was sacked. Once sacked all bets are off unless the club paid him for the privilege. But I don't think they needed to worry as Pearson is not a talker anyway. Clubs and players swallow their pride quickly in Football. We did when the club brought NP back. Look at Pogba back to United.

Where you could be right is that the Owners advised the Club not to have further dealing with Pearson. However it's all immaterial now as we've both moved on.

We could certainly do with  Matty at his best right now with Mendy's injury..Unfortunately Matty's not a naturally fit person like a Vardy or Mahrez, he has to work at it. Despite him being better than King in the position I don't see CR trowing him into the Team unless he's ready. Which is why a Month of competitive Football somewhere would be a massive boost for him and us.

I presume he's still on some fitness program. And anyway walking back into a Premier League team isn't going to happen without him getting match sharpness. Get him loaned out to a competitive league 1 side like Charlton, Bradford or Bolton for an initial 30 days, possibly extended to 90... while we & him weigh up options

He was still being paid by the club up until the point he got a new Job, so i doubt he was ever gonna talk whilst still getting an income from LCFC I guess it was a condition of his so called gardening leave.

Sure he will have his say at some point, but I guess it's not the 1st interview you do the minute you take over a new club.

Do you know for a fact that we were paying him up until he got a new job?

From what I heard (not ITK I hasten to add) his attitude and actions post Bangkok were enough that should it have gone to court the club may have won.

Ridiculous statement. At the end of our promotion season many on here were talking about both Drinky and James as potential future England internationals, at the time that seemed over the top  but obviously Drinkwater has now made that step up. In our first season back, James adapted far better than Drinkwater and barring a serious injury at the end of that season would have been ahead of him in the pecking order at the start of last season. Now all of a sudden because he's been out for 12/months plus with injury he's useless?!?! Ffs

Same ones who were probably writing off Drinkwater at the start of last season.

He suffers in this sense because he's not flashy, doesn't score wonder goals and play many Hollywood passes. What you do get is a solid and reliable box-to-box midfielder who keeps things ticking over nicely and has the physicality to play in this league, and when he's back playing in the team those with short memories will remember what he gives us

Exactly, also probably the same ones who bemoan lack of player loyalty when they are linked with moves away from the club

That's a bit of a mean thing to say, he has been injured after all! :P
