This is why I feel an expansion to 45k would be sensible. Wow, let's see how we get on this season, before we assume to sit at the big boys table.
Webbo Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 I think 36,000 would be plenty 40,000 if you're optimistic. Talk of 45-50k is a bit silly imo.
lcfcben76 Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Just think that with Wembley not selling out I wouldn't want us to have empty seats, if we drop off in the next few years then we will be like Aston villa in the last few seasons, no expansion needed imo
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Even with the fact we haven't sold Wembley out I still think we could do 40k in Leicester. At the risk of sounding a bit of a twat, not every fan is commited enough to travel to Wembley for a pre season game, but would happily go into town to watch a home game. Put 6 or 7K on the top of the east stand, sorted. In the not too distant future put safe standing in the corner between the Kop and the East stand and add another thousand or so onto the capacity, sorted.

Actually that's probably the spot on if a small expansion is possible, I didn't realise a small expansion was possible , I was told it would be 100m to increase size owing to ground works and strengthening needed
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Success plays a real role in stadium attendances, granted, but I feel next season say we had a 40k seater stadium I still think we would fill at least 36-40k on a consistent basis. When we battling relegation in 2014/15 the ground was a sell out more or less every match. For me it's also the important aspect to change which is the amount of people that are potentially missing out on home tickets, particularly last season. Top flight football will always bring in crowds and will contiune to draw in fans for Leicester City because it's about the best league in the world. We've filled the KP of 32k seats for two seasons running now, and I'm sure there could be thousands more City fans who would like to watch us more regularly at home games. Supporters from every English club in the Championship downwards, they all dream of seeing their club compete in the Premier League, and while we've got that, I would like to see more fans given an opportunity to get to games with an expansion. I'm blessed being a STH but I can understand the other side of it too.

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Hope this doesn't interfere with the other expansion thread as this was more of a research based thread, whereas I feel the other one needs to be used for proper discussion given it's been going a lot longer and has many more pages. Not sure if it's possible but can mods merge a thread with a poll that's included? If so, it might be best merging this in the other expansion thread....
Guest Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Stadiums should be made on the penis idea. The more exciting the game the more it expands.
foxfanazer Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 42k seems about right to me. I feel the fanbase is there, just look at the victory parade! Ok there were plenty just there for a piss up and loads of daytrippers but even so it was amazing to see that sort of turnout
Sly Posted 3 August 2016 Posted 3 August 2016 Building a new stadium is just out of the question. The ground works and construction costs would top £100,000,000. If's not really a good return on investment. It would take years to re-coup that sort of money. It's why West Ham have such a great deal. Whoever did the feasibility study prior to the construction of the KP sadly got it all wrong. Any lifetime planning was sadly just forgotten as the infrastructure around currently wouldn't support an increased capacity. I'm not sure if we may have potentially land sold off during our administration period that was marked down for this? Leicester as a whole has this issue. Welford Road faces the same challenges. That aside, yes for the casual attendee tickets have been more difficult to come across within the past two seasons, though like others have said, a change in form, relegation to the Championship, would we fill an increased capacity stadium? We aren't solely a Football centric city like Derby, Nottingham etc. Do we have the right demographic within the local catchment area to fill a 45,000 - 50,000 stadium? The Board will make calculated risks. Our first point of call is to prove last season wasn't a flash in the pan. We don't want to end up like Coventry.
yorkie1999 Posted 3 August 2016 Posted 3 August 2016 I reckon if they lower the pitch by 15 feet and put 5 rows at the front of the stands up to the grass edges, they could get another 4000 fans in.
Guest Posted 3 August 2016 Posted 3 August 2016 Just now, FIF said: put the money into new players and wages. and then add HD TV in the car park for fans to watch for free outside the stadium.

They'll be plenty of empty seats but they won't be the ones that have been on sale to City fans.

We have about 27k members/season ticket holders. We were never going to sell them all.

That'd be a hell of an excavation, not to mention having to re-plum all of the under soil heating..
