The 20-year-old player was spotted playing for Oldham Athetic as a trialist last month and also spent time at Manchester United off the back of his impressive performance. Martis has been in negotiations with Oldham for two weeks and could still sign for the League One club, but Leicester are hoping to pick him up on the cheap and then loan him out for experience. Martis has appeared for Barrow, Buxton, Tranmere and Oldham in the past month and his story illustrates how a trialist can create a buzz during pre-season that leads to bigger and perhaps better things. "I went into Leicester for a day and felt comfortable and got an offer," Martis told TEAMtalk.com "Then I went into Manchester United for a week and received good feedback from Warren Joyce and could have earned a deal had I waited, but I just want to get my career started. "I am confident in my ability and after training with the group at Manchester United, including players like (Bastian) Schweinsteiger I believe one day I can play at that level. "I've played a number of games to obtain fitness and have done well. I played against League Two Crewe and scored and laid on an assist and then played in a game with Tranmere where I help set up a number of goals before I went Oldham and scored against a championship Preston. Oldham have offered me a deal and we have been in negotiations for two weeks. "I am nearing a decision on my future and I want to make the right decision for the next stage of my career." Our youth teams have fallen way short of what we'd hoped and there's a massive overhaul going on. its likely he'd either ply his trade there next season or we'd loan him straight out.
