Carl the Llama Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 This is one of the biggest myths going, please stop using it as though it somehow explains why we shouldn't sign a particular player. That is all. Thank you.
Tielemans63 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Yep, Fuchs and Kante did alright last year without any PL experience.
GaelicFox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Benteke had lots of it before going to Liverpool didn't help him did it ? Sterling to Man City feleni to Manure etc........ premier league experience means nothing !

SportsNut1908 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 I agree about about the 'Premier League experience' but I don't think there's anything wrong with the club now looking for proven players. I'm thinking of Diarra for instance from Marseille. Wouldn't cost the earth & is proven right up to international level. Not EVERY signing has to be a young player with resale value.
BigWesMorgan Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 There is nothing more I hate than this stupid cliche.

It's not like we have a squad of newbies. We have some very experienced players, and not just at club level. Also, bear in mind most of the players listed below have the experience of being in a title-winning squad... Kasper Schmeichel - 201 apps for Leicester, 360 total career club apps. 22 international caps Wes Morgan - 183 apps for Leicester, 540 total career club apps. 28 international caps Robert Huth - 289 Premier League apps, 49 for Leicester. 19 international caps Andy King - 296 apps for Leicester. 36 international caps Marc Albrighton - 146 Premier League apps, 56 for Leicester Danny Simpson - 272 career apps, 115 Premier League apps Shinji Okazaki - 286 career apps, 102 international caps Ron-Robert Zieler - 202 career apps, 6 international caps Leo Ulloa - 345 career apps, 67 for Leicester Marcin Wasilewski - 406 career apps, 60 international caps Christian Fuchs - 368 career apps, 78 international caps There's A LOT of experience in that side, and that's not even listed the whole squad. We have a great mix of experience as above and youth - Gray, Chilwell, Schlupp, Kapustka. As OP and others in the thread have said, you don't need 'proven' quality. You need players to fit the mould of the way the club needs to play. And in our side, they need a hell of a lot of determination and positive spirit and belief that they can do win. Having Premier League experience isn't the be all and end all of whether a player can be good enough for your club.
splinterdream Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 'The way the club play', what way is that then? Are there no players in the Premier League that could move our team to the next level? Do you think we're going to play the way we did last season and get the same results?

They don't have to have played in the Premier League to be a consideration for a transfer.

I'll say the same to you as I said to the other guy, why are you pissing & moaning about the idea of adding quality into the squad? You don't like having finished products who can go straight into the side? N'Zonzi, Diarra maybe Carvalho from Sporting would be so offensive to your eyes? Jesus.
StanSP Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 where did I say I wouldn't want it? I'm just saying there's a lot of experience in the squad already yet you're acting like we have none.

No they don't, but unless you buy at the very top level (Ibra for example), they do tend to be a more of a risk.

I think people are reading too much into the word 'experience' & associating it with veteran players who add nothing or little on the field due to a declining skill set. I'm referring to in their prime starting XI players. Guys that can come in & lend a hand immediately. I don't understand what anyone's issue would be with that.
CollinsLCFC Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 This is why I would never like us to sign Messi. Unproven at PL..
Old Fox 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 We need a devastating midfielder to release Drinky to do what he does best! Our midfield simply doesn't look strong enough. With Huth back that should sure up the back 4. Up top I think we have enough to hurt teams.
Guest Cujek Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 I am completely unproven in the premier league, I would be shit though.
Dan Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 It's a silly phrase I agree. I think you need balance, and some experience of the league won't go amiss but it's the ability to adapt and pick things up that will benefit you more than "been there done it". There's also no guarantee of a player succeeding at one club in the league if he succeeded at another. See Vardy to Arsenal who plenty agreed wouldn't fit there even though he is absolutely 'proven' at this level. If everyone took the mentality of buying "proven Premier League players" then you would eventually run out of players. It's got to start somehow. We haven't bought a single player from England this summer and I'd not be unhappy if we entered September like that. There's far better value abroad. Imagine how much Zieler would go for if he was English. Saying that I do want another couple of signings but them previously playing in the Premier League isn't anywhere near top of my criteria.
Guest Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 The grass is always greener elsewhere when you lose.
Guest ttfn Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 We also had one of the oldest first XIs in the league last season. Those guys are not going to hang on forever - we need another generation coming through so that in 3 years time we're not lumbered with an entire squad over 30.
Grewks Posted 15 August 2016 Posted 15 August 2016 I think people are calling for 'experience' rather that 'proven premier league'.....Afterall, last season showed that 'proven premier league players' were inferior to us. 'Someone like Fuchs', as in proven in a top european league and on the international stage, is someone we could always add to the squad. Martin Caceres is a shout, bit of a risk given his previous long-term injury, but you're only paying his wages.

foxy boxing Posted 16 August 2016 Posted 16 August 2016 premier league experience is a cliche it is football experience we need, players with a track record of success in europe and international football and with champions league experience
