Fair points, but thought danny simpson was our best player, though walcott and oxlade chamberlain aren't saying much i was not nervous once when they were one-on-one with simspon. Considering the lack of cover mahrez provides simpson, simpson does a stella job at right back. Also his ability to win headers at the back post when strikers have a run on him is outstanding; simpson by far our most underrated player

I'd agree with you that Simpson was outstanding and would be my Man of the Match.  He was fantastic. But Mahrez defended very well too. Infact the one time Simpson was beat Mahrez covered and made a very good tackle and set us off on the attack. I don't think you could point to Saturday to knock Mahrez's lack of cover. He defended very well

This point about Mahrez giving Simpson cover, might not be upto date..

Claudio mentioned last week, he wants to see Mahrez hold a higher line, in the early games, interpret that

how you will...

ON Simpson agree totally, in v someways probably covers his side better than Fuchs does his.

He also clears fom the middle of the box. He has usefull sortes forward, maybe not so often.

His defending has really come on, and yes like you I believe he his underrated by some on this forum.

Funny  thing is ,many remember his slip as last man at the end of last season, but forget easily howmany

times he saved us, when being in exactly the same position.Again imo as last man,

or covering that end line, Simpson and Huth come out on top between themselves and Wes and fuchs.

Nice one man, great post!

The game was a great 0-0 and could've gone either way. Was really impressed with Koscielny who is one of the best centre halfs in Europe. Think you missed a proper centre forward on Saturday, though I am a big fan of Giroud.

I'd like to see you lot win it under Wenger again. His outlook is superb - though frustrating as an Arsenal fan for sure - and you still play the best football in the league. On Saturday some of your close passing was superb and you're still very dangerous on the counter.

Reckon the best money you could spend would be on a decent medical team and associated facilities. Somehow, every player who puts on an Arsenal shirt has their legs turn to glass and the knees to old laggy bands. It's not luck when it's season after season-something's wrong there...

PS hands off our medical team... :@

That's quite the fair summary, thanks.

Personally, I'm not worrying that much about our players or some of their mistakes against Arsenal, as the OP himself stated that both teams aren't really in the proper flow yet. So, Fuchs and Simpson will both get better over time.

On the whole, we could've or should've edged it, but I take a draw as a fair result and a sign of better things to come.

As for Arsenal, you could be in for a rocky season: You lack an alternative to a hot-and-cold-blowing Giroud up front and I don't see what Xhaka adds to the team, as he was slow in the Bundesliga, making a name for himself for late challenges and cynical fouls. I think he'll be even more exposed in the Premier League and go down as one of the biggest flops in Arsenal history. But that's only my take on it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the team doesn't appear to be playing for the manager - although it's still early days, so you never know...

Koscielny (?) is a good player.

However he was assisted greatly in keeping Vards quiet by them always having two defenders on him, which makes sense but if one on one I'm sure it would be more of an ask.

I would have took a point before the game, but I cannot understand why so many people on here have said 'a draw was a fair result'.

I presume that is down to being an opposing fan coming forth with some flattering (and accurate) comments.

A draw was not a fair result. They retained 11 men on the pitch when they should have been down to 10, plus the Musa penalty not being given was nothing short of disgraceful.

We were once again robbed.

Refs have got wise to the trick of deliberately running into defenders and tangling their legs up with yours and then going over. Clattenburg gave an almost identical penalty  for Vardy against Man Utd  a couple of years ago. Read on another topic how he stated this was his worst decision ever.

Koscielny was brilliant ...almost a one man defense against us.

Dont like the way Sanchez tries to get other players booked by complaining to the refs . He helped get Simpson sent off last season at the Emirates, and he was at it again on Saturday.

Going to be a big challenge for us this season, Champions League and other teams raising thier game against the reigning champions...will be interesting to see how  individuals and the team as a whole handle it.

Re: leg tangling.

Not it sure you have that right there re: Clattenburg. The challenge you describe I believe was on  Vardy which resulted in red card for the defender. Definite penalty. The previous one he gave in that game largely considered soft when Vardy was barged over by a shoulder challenge.

That aside the Musa one was not leg tangling anyway - he had his leg kicked from behind.

Howard Webb made a key point on the BT coverage which is that if player is in front of the defender with the ball at his feet, it is the defender's responsibility to avoid contact / 'leg tangling'with the forward player - not the other way around. Much as in a car accident, if drive into back of someone you are 99% of the time going to be found at fault.

Someone should have explained that to John Moss last season before he booked Vardy.

I think a draw was a fair result because the game could've easily gone the other way. There were times when Arsenal were breaking where I thought they'd score. Stats back this up too - they had more shots on target than us, more corners and more shots.

I'm not going on about a poor decision either. Clattenburg - one of the best referees in this Country - had a poor game, that's all. It's hard for referees as they get one look, they don't sit in a studio like these pundits watching it over and over again. We got a penalty last week when the initial contact was clearly outside the area. I don't know why you say we were "once again robbed".... did you see the amount of decisions we got last season?
