yesterdays game from arsenal prespective

Hello

I come in peace.

First of all lets get to the two important points which you have just reason to be upset about. Firstly it was a stonewall penalty all the arsenal fans I have spoken to said the same, Bellerin got the wrong side and took musa out clear as day. Point two we should have been down to ten men, coquelin  made a cynical foul and should of gone. On the other penalty call I think Laurent got the ball and it wasnt a pen (his defensive performence saved us a point). But its clear that in games against you we have had the rub of the green.

On the match itself I thought it was a decent game with neither team yet up to top speed and a draw on the overall play was fair considering we had a few chances. You could see that the atmosphere you create at  the KP and the sheer team spirit and unity you have within the squard will mean you wont fall away this year the way Chelsea did.

However I do think your still even with additions short of numbers, my concern for you would of the loss of kante and cover for the  two full backs. Danny  Simpson repeating last season level  wise  will be difficult as he always seems  a tad out of place positionally  for me  and yesterday Morgan and Huth saved him on a number of occasions defensivly. I do think musa will be brilliant for you and  maybe allow Vardy to have a rest.

We have a number of issues and obviously need another striker and a centre half,  Wenger also seems to be aging and become more stubborn and more inward looking , I unlike other arsenal fans hate to have a go at him, He has been our manager since I was a teenager and he does done so much for the club. Yes he can behave  like a idiot at times towards other teams, but he has our idiot :) if you get what Im saying.

anyway all the best lads, I know relations have not always been the best of late, but what you did last year was brilliant, and if its a city united run of this year, the league will be more dull for it.

Great post, very fair assessment. Yesterday was a game of two real quality, Premier League sides. Walking out the ground I was happy enough with a point and on the basis of the game it was a fair result, both teams had chances and it could've gone either way.

Id say that was a pretty decent assessment of the game.

Always wondered why Arsenal struggle so badly to get players in, and yet the one player they actually did push through quickly was Xhaka which seemed for a lot of money and in an area of the pitch they were already well off it.

Yet the Mustafi thing has dragged on and on and on and they need him badly

I would say against its over money. I would personally not mind evans from west brom, fergies not stupid he would not have had centre half for united if he was that bad a defender.

I think by the way burnley may have pulled off the sort of player you could have had for kante in steven defour, had a hit and miss time in football but he is a quality player in my view.

Ditto what Donut said; that's a decent assessment twister.

From yesterday's performance, I can see why gooners would be spitting bricks. It's a team that promises so much yet somehow fails to deliver. I reckon I'd probably be livid in truth.

Wenger seems to persist, year after year, with his vision. Yet year after year he falls agonisingly short of expectation. Arsenal are the nearly men of the modern era. Wenger, for all that is good about him, can't get you over the line. I think I'd be thinking it was time for a change too.

Koscielny definitely man of the match.

Had to laugh about BT yesterday saying the Wnger Out campaign had started. One bloke with an A3 piece of card is not a "campaign." lol

Oh My God! An intelligent Arsenal fan, who is not arrogant and half way up his own backside.

You are a very rare breed! I take my hat off to you.

Good post. I thought this game was nailed on btts. Glad I didn't back it lol

I think overall a point a piece was a fair result.

You make a great point about Kante covering the full backs and I think that's why Albrighton came back ininto the side as last weekend gray and Mahrez offered no protection to fuchs and Simpson.  But we don't have Kante anymore and we have to find a away to play without him.

As for arsenal I think you lack that bit of team sprit. It's as if they don't believe they are good enough themselves. Some quality individuals in certain positions. But you need a top draw partner for koscielny, who is probably underrated at times.

And I can't for the life of me understand why you haven't bust the bank vault for a too draw striker.

Messing about trying to sign vardy was a waste of time and effort and had he signed he was never the best fit for you anyway.

That silly pissing about with a 1 quid over bid for Suarez as well, had they gone all out he may well have joined.

That said I can't offer my best wishes for the season as most of your fans are just hard work and the way they reacted in winning the league on valentines day was just well lollollol

Wait a minute,  An Arsenal fan that isn't a bellend!?

Very fair and accurate post and I agree on the Koscielny incident although my initial reaction was a penalty

Very good,  balanced and honest assessment twister!

We were almost up to speed yesterday and when Vards and Riyad are fully sharp and at it we will be back to giving teams a torrid time, especially with the addition of an even quicker than Vardy, Musa :)

You guys possess some real quality and play some beautiful stuff, my concern/ criticism if I was a Gooner, would be, too much tippy tappy without quick cutting edge clinical finishing! Not sure if that's a Wenger thing or over creativity taking over?

I do think you've unearthed an absolute gem in Holding though.

Always had decent rapport with Arsenal fans after games, good points well made.

Pity ydays stone island kids spoilt the rapport for some

Watched the game in my local yesterday with a gooner. Both agreed the first penno would have been harsh. The second before I could shout he said that's a pen. Then added it's a huge mistake.

To all the knockers they do have lots of real good fans ignore the inter net morons we have our share too.

As I have said before the trees the sheep n covscum ok Arsenal yes. But would rather shite broken glass for a month than spend time with a spud.

I think that Arsenal are in for a difficult season. I think that they will finish in the top six, but not the top four.

Defence - a real weakpoint. Koscielny apart, do they have any really top notch defenders?

Midfield - Quality obviously in Ozil, but the rest (Cazorla, Coquelin, Ramsey) flatter to deceive. Xakha adds a bit of bite, but not sure whether he is real quality. Oxlade-Chamberlain has had enough time to prove himself, but fails to do so. It must be dawning on him and the Gooners fan that he's not a top class player - more Stoke and West Brom.

Forwards - dear old Walcott. Same comments as Oxlade-Chamberlain. Whenever you see him in the line up, you think that he has the attributes to tear the opposition apart, but he always disappoints. Has raw pace, but little else. Sanchez is a class player, but needs a quality centre forward to bring out the best in him. Giroud does score goals, but this tends to be against the weaker teams, and his lack of pace is an issue.

Hi

can I just add that in terms of our support, its a consequence of success in a way. It  started to go downhill when we knocked down the North Bank at Highbury replaced them with bond holders (city types) and  has continued with the new stadium. We like united have become as much a brand as a club,

Your move from filbert street seems to have gone better as somehow the kp does not feel so much like a new stadium as most of the others.Though I will admit I am not a clappers fan.

Refs have got wise to the trick of deliberately running into defenders and tangling their legs up with yours and then going over. Clattenburg gave an almost identical penalty  for Vardy against Man Utd  a couple of years ago. Read on another topic how he stated this was his worst decision ever.

Koscielny was brilliant ...almost a one man defense against us.

Dont like the way Sanchez tries to get other players booked by complaining to the refs . He helped get Simpson sent off last season at the Emirates, and he was at it again on Saturday.

Going to be a big challenge for us this season, Champions League and other teams raising thier game against the reigning champions...will be interesting to see how  individuals and the team as a whole handle it.

That's not what happened on Saturday

bellerin tried to play the ball with his left foot

very poor decision and wouldn't be surprised if he (or Riley) doesn't give Claudio a call to apologise.

there gooner be really mad at the emirites at the moment with wenger saying if they spend money on transfers then the tea lady might not get paid. wenger really is a total pr**k and has the arsenal fans are gooner turn more and more against him. if he could't win the league last year there is no way he is winning it and is short changing the arsenal fans

Fair points, but thought danny simpson was our best player, though walcott and oxlade chamberlain aren't saying much i was not nervous once when they were one-on-one with simspon. Considering the lack of cover mahrez provides simpson, simpson does a stella job at right back. Also his ability to win headers at the back post when strikers have a run on him is outstanding; simpson by far our most underrated player
