Don't hold your breath !

It'll test his 'vazeline' reputation for the slippery bastard to get out of this with his head held high.

Expect Vazeline branded sex lube hitting the shelves soon if it doesn't and he needs a new earner.

I don't get the problem with poppers.

Surely the worst thing is having to pick up all those bits of paper the morning after?

In my naivety that's exactly what I thought they were.lol

I think one reason people are on to him for this is because of the doorway that will open with flood of accusations of other stuff that will come should he get convicted

One would hope, but I'm not sure he's committed a criminal offence.

Keith Vaz

Hundreds of people have signed a petition calling for embattled Keith Vaz to be removed as MP for Leicester East.

The call to have Mr Vaz sacked follows revelations about his private life and claims that he paid male prostitutes and offered to buy drugs for them.

The petition on the change.org website has been signed by some 500 people.

However as there is no power of recall of MPs in the UK he cannot be compelled to stand down from the position he has held since 1987 and he has not indicated he will resign.

The signatories are however clear that they no longer want Mr Vaz - who won an 18,352 majority in last year's election - in parliament.

Helen Watkinson, 56, from Thurnby Lodge, started the petition.

She said: "I used to vote for Mr Vaz but I no longer think he is a fit and proper person to hold office.

"We are trying to pressure him to resign and trigger a by-election.

"I would probably vote for another Labour candidate.

"I tried three times to put the petition on the Government website and three times it was rejected because they said they could not accept one on positions and appointments."

On Friday some of Mr Vaz's constituents protested outside his Leicester offices.

The petition comes following a report in the Daily Mail that claimed the Labour veteran intervened to try to stop Leicester City Council evicting a tenant suspected of running a brothel providing the services of young men.

The allegation dates back to 1991.

The newspaper reported former city councillor Paul Gosling said he was questioned by police earlier this year as to whether Mr Vaz had committed an abuse of public office by intervening.

The Daily Mail said it was not known whether Mr Vaz was aware of the suspicions that the tenant was involved with male prostitution.

Mr Gosling claimed Mr Vaz had acted in a bullying manner while intervening.

A senior source at the council told the Mercury Mr Gosling's account to the Mail was correct.

The Mercury contacted Mr Vaz's office for comment but has had no response.
