FoxFromCoalville Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 what was going on with him? don't wish to upset anyone but looked like he hadn't kipped for 5 weeks and had been on somet before he walked (was carried) on the pitch
purpleronnie Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Not sure it's relevant to what you saw but just incase it is, he has Alzheimer's disease.
Izzy Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 I believe Frank is suffering badly from dementia or Alzheimer's disease sadly.
21st Century Fox Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Wasn't it his daughter who claimed he'd been diagnosed with Alzheimers and then he denied it?
whetstonefox Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 If that's right, why bring him out in front of 30,000? It was strange/sad not to mention risky thing to do.
FoxFromCoalville Posted 2 October 2016 Author Posted 2 October 2016 yeah, he denied the Alzheimer's a while back, very strange

Because it was possibly his last chance to get out in front of the fans who adored him before it doesn't mean anything to him. Very sad for all concerned
Sambiasso Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Thought it was Bernie in a wig on the pitch at HT
Illusion35 Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Oh goodness I just assumed he was really drunk?! My my dad has Alzheimer's and is nothing like that. Very sad illness.
jock2612 Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Alzheimer's is an awful illness. I feel very sorry for anyone and their families dealing with this terminal disease. If Frank is suffering badly it was an awful risk to put him through the half-time 'entertainment'. I know from experience it is hard to let go of the ones we love but is not dignified to expose them in front 30k people.Everyone near us just thought he was drunk and an embarrassment! Unfortunate if a club legend were to be remembered in such away. I wish Frank and his family the very best whatever the future holds !!
Illusion35 Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 I feel really bad for my thoughts now - everyone around me was commenting on how drunk he appeared to be and how embarrassing it was. It's so inappropriate and unfair to parade someone with dementia around like that especially if they are unsteady on their feet. It is a cruel and heartbreaking illness and I'd never expose my dad (who also has Alzheimer's) to that kind of public ridicule.
Wymsey Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Pretty confident that the Birch/the club would've known of any risks beforehand, and just wanted him to enjoy being in the public domain in a city/at a club that he knew well due to his own success there.

Don't think Frank ever played at the KP?
LJS Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 I thought Birch seemed a little uncomfortable with the situation and handled it as sensitively and compassionately as he could. Worthington clearly isn't well and didn't seem anything like fully aware of what was going on. The only bit which made me feel uneasy was Birch trying to persuade Wortho to take part in the cross bar challenge, but I'm sure it was for the right reasons.

Wish I was old enough to have seen him play
masterg59 Posted 2 October 2016 Posted 2 October 2016 Frank was the reason i started supporting Leicester city. top man. such a shame.
fuchsntf Posted 3 October 2016 Posted 3 October 2016 Best center forward, not to get 50 caps for England. great no!! Better than good just a ..phenominal player with marvellous ball skills. and the eye to spot a way to lose his close markers, dummying headers fooling his opponent and often the ref, who gave fouls against him for no or wrong reason. A skill he had to give up...Shame he and Weller couldnt finish their careers together at Filbert street. Bloomfield nor team unfortunately just couldnt find that special formula. But left great mouth watering smooth memories and moments..
