However I was put off after someone told me that they knew someone that did it and the flame chased the gas back up the anus resulting in serious internal burns. Talk about 'fire in the hole' .

Exactly the same as me. I think it's an urban legend, but I didn't want to find out. Edit: Not recommended whilst wearing a shell suit in the early 90's
