brisfox Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Just seen a story in the Daily Mail about Welker. 2 women have accused him of molesting them as kids.very sad if true
volpeazzurro Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 How awful for his family. It's not as if he can defend himself either. Wonder what made them decide to come out of the woodwork now?

srbfox Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Surely something new would have to have come to light to re-open an investigation? Or can they re-open a case if the CPS believe they made a mistake 15 years ago? Can just re-open a case as these unsavoury cases are being taken more seriously these days. I mean if he is guilty then he is guilty but if he is not then leave the man alone.

Chico1958 Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 What can be done to a man who died 12 ot 13 years ago Hero's have got a habit of letting you down. That's if it's true of course

The first incident happened in the 60's long before he joined the club, the second in the 80's after he left. The allegations were first made in 2002, so I'd guess its very unlikely any club that employed him knew. Also he played for three other clubs between the 60's and playing here, so if you're suggesting someone could demand anything from City, then surely Spurs, Millwall and Chelsea too.
crazyleicester Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Unfortunately it seems that from the 60s when everyone was at that experimental time with drugs and sex that some wackos decided it was OK that anything goes, including kids. So many people in entertainment seem to think that they have a free pass to take advantage and it wouldnt surprise me if there were thousands more abused kids who had nowhere to turn to after being taken advantage of. Weller was a bit before my time but obviously as a fan I looked into our history and this lad was one of the stand outs. Unfortunately he is dead so cant face the charges or even prove his innocence. Im not going to find him guilty by media but reading some of the stuff this morning, you have to say mud sticks and there is no benefit for those accusing him or going for him after his death unless they had good reason. Its such a shame but the focus needs to go on the abused herein.

Well good luck rectifying that error. They spoke to the alleged victims 15 years ago, I'm not sure what more they can obtain now with the alleged abuser is dead.
Stevosevic Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Oh dear - not good reading wether it is true or not.

You would imagine those abused and those around them want to be heard and not pushed to the side. Reading that one of the abused`s mum was writing here there and everywhere in an attempt to get the case opened and an investigation launched. We saw the other month how the make youth players abused all those years ago who came out to tell there story and as horrible as this sounds as I type, they looked all over the shop and you know its not messed there weekend but their lives. Maybe they need that good old Americanism, "closure" before they can move on with there lives fully. Im not trying to put myself in the same level of pain with these people but as someone who was accused of stealing from an employer about 15 years ago its not a nice feeling. I recall my bosses called the police in and basically accused me with no evidence. Before I know it my staff are treating me strangely and the word spreads like fire and Im getting called by all sorts of people asking what went down. I kept my job but it was untenable as I still thought they thought I was involved. The police refused to get the local CCTV as it cost too much and was too time consuming as the amount stolen was about £1500 which they deemed as too little. After getting my solicitor involved (I was fuming for justice) we paid £500 for CCTV to clear my name. We got the surrounding CCTV and two people were seen opening the door with keys and one was an ex-employee. I left the company but I felt I left with absolutely zero against my name. Had I just left some of that mud might have stuck, in fact Im sure it would have done. As a retail manager everyone seems to know everyone in this weird industry and it could have effected me in later life. I was also worried of something occurring again in the same place or a future employer and instantly the finger will point to me. Now I know this has nothing to do with abuse as a kid but Im almost certain that these kids now adults feel so trapped because people have accused them of bullshitting all this time. It wouldnt surprise me if they got bullied if the accusations they made about a famous person over the years. Basically, they deserve the right to clear their name and move on and need some sort of vindication. It took the people of Liverpool decades to get justice for the 96 and if people of abuse want similar justice we cant deny them that.
fuchsntf Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Middle 1960s..would make him..20yrs old ( born 1946 june).. 1980s. As far as I know he was not in the UK. He spent alot of his social life and playing days in USA..Though he did return occasionally to the UK. He died early..2004 only 58. At his time at Leicester, there were no dark aquaintance -rumours, either around the squad, or away from the squad, neither club /nightlife nor private. Until, somebody comes out with concrete proof, his reputation and character stays unblemished...
brisfox Posted 9 January 2017 Author Posted 9 January 2017 One of the sad things about abuse is that the victims carry the burden for a lifetime. They feel shame and guilt that never goes away without professional help. The abusers themselves have often been the victim of abuse in their early years. I don't know if Keith Weller is guilty or innocent, I just find the whole thing very sad. I feel especially sorry for his wife and children as this has sullied the memory of a great player that was loved by thousands of fans of the clubs he played for. Those who are affected by this sort of vile abuse include family and friends who feel a justifiable sense of betrayal.
