davieG Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 ....but only 1 assist. But then we've not had any prolific assisters Leicester City duo in top 20 Premier League crossers By Mercury_Sport | Posted: January 09, 2017 Leicester City's Marc Albrighton is sixth in a list of the most prolific crosses of a ball in the Premier League. The winger has put in 112 crosses so far this season and only Hull City's Robert Snodgrass, Liverpool's James Milner, Swansea City's Gylfi Sigurdsson, Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and West Ham United's Dimitri Payet, who has put in 156 crosses so far this season, were greater suppliers of crosses. His City team-mate Riyad Mahrez was 20th in the list, compiled by the Express. However, it is actually City striker Islam Slimani who has provided the most assists in the Premier League this season with three, with Mahrez on two, along with Christian Fuchs, Jamie Vardy and Demarai Gray. Albrighton has provided one assist. Read more at http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/leicester-city-duo-in-top-20-premier-league-crossers/story-30041519-detail/story.html#FjSPzYEmMOfldVK4.99
lgfualol Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 His crosses are really inconsistent, one minute they're absolutely mental then the next he can't get the ball off the ground. He needs to play on the right and whip the crosses in instead of always doing slow predictable lofted crosses or ankle height ones. The one assist makes sense when he expects Vardy or Okazaki to beat a 6'4 defender for a lofted cross, or Slim to lie on the floor and try to head it in.
ozvaldo Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 His crosses are mainly inconsistent when he's on the left. Everyone knows he will step in (from almost anywhere on the pitch) and try a cross / ball down a channel. He tends to rush this as he wants to get the ball in behind for Vardy and a lot of the time it doesn't come off. However, on the right, he gets that extra second to just compose himself and play better balls in. Now that we are playing more games with good headers of the ball, I'd certainly play him on the right, with Gray on the left. His assist for Slimani from the right wing the other week was sensational.

coolhandfox Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Like a lot of people have said he's need to be on the right, he's wasted on the left! CR likes he's workrate so fits him in the side. Play him on the right and Slimani will have a field day on he's crosses, like he did against West Ham, 1 goal and hitting the post. For a freebie his done well over his time here.
foxy boxing Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Obviously crossing the ball is his main asset but needs to do much more, we should maybe swap the wingers during the game so he starts on one side but has a go on the other side too.which will do more to confuse the opposition and give him and the team more scope to press forward.whoever we play on the wing will have to fulfill their defensive duties as well as their attacking one
MPH Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 So not only is Slimani our second highest scorer after Mahrez, he also has the most assists.. And people want him replaced by Ulloa? OH YES I DID!!!
Poznan34 Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Is that really worth an article in the Mercury? Slow news day!
Poznan34 Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Crosses alone are pretty meaningless as a stat. Needs context. How many of them actually found a Leicester player? Was that more than average? Is he making more crosses per game than others? He has played a lot of games so you would expect him to have a higher number of crosses!
Phube Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 Bring back Guppy! He was only ever 2nd to the crossing God that was Beckham!

Moksky Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 As said already, play him on the right and he will No.1 , having to check all time slows the play down and give time defenders to regroup, get the ball in early and forwards can find space to get a header / shot away

foxy boxing Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 If we play him on the right, it will be alb right on baby albrighton! yeah
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 9 January 2017 Posted 9 January 2017 When on form, he's one of the best crossers we've had in a while. Hope he plays more regularly at RM, just look at that cross for Slimani's first vs West Ham, it was sumptuous & from his natural side/foot. To give delivery like that for Slimani more often, he needs to be played on the right.
