waylander Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 Does everyone really think that Ranieri is going to take us down? He took over a bottom of the Premiership side and led them to the Premiership title. The team seems to be having the same hangover as Chelsea last year. Many pundits predicted us to struggle. Ranieri himself said we want 40 points, and we're still on track for that. So let's help him raise the Titanic and see this season out. Sink or swim, do it with a grin. All kind thoughts greatly appreciated. And any miserable b*ggers go to another thread.
chicagofox Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 Here are my positive thoughts on our current situation ... ... Yeah, I've got nothing!

The team seems to be having the same hangover as Chelsea last year - Nope our defense sucks and we have made poor transfer market decisions. Many pundits predicted us to struggle - They always do. Ranieri himself said we want 40 points, and we're still on track for that - Exactly. So let's help him raise the Titanic and see this season out. Sink or swim, do it with a grin. He admitted to getting it wrong, im sure that talks between him, his staff and the players will sort this out, Players yesterday looked a little bemused with the system, a return to 442 is easy and will prove effective, to many posters on here panicking, we will be ok
waylander Posted 23 January 2017 Author Posted 23 January 2017 Nice and sensible Willie my thoughts exactly . Maddog I said A bottom not bottom . And players need time to settle in. Patience is a virtue ?
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 I admit yesterday was poor but the negativity from some of the fans behind me was unreal, I know we need results quickly but some dont see the overall picture
harpendenfox Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 I've been of this opinion until yesterday, but I was shocked by our ineptitude on the south coast. I now think relegation it is a distinct possibility, I still feel we can recover, but that's more in hope than expectation. My faith is being sorely tested though.
filbertboy Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 We will not be relegated. Yes we were very poor yesterday but I have every faith in Claudio to turn it around. I am very bemused with the level of feeling towards him at the moment. The man is a legend and his magic will work once more. Have faith in Claudio we trust.

lgfualol Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 I think we'll see better performances when relegation is looking a real real possibility and our players' wages are in doubt. I imagine the desire will return when they realise no other club will pay them this much to be shit.

Vacamion Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 The sentiment of this thread is all very well but the analogy is a *disaster*. Where's the "optimistic bus" thread?

Before this weekend I'd have said we'd be ok and stop up. Not really because of us but there being 3 worse teams in the league. However having watched Swansea and hull they are both playing with a passion and belief that we seem to have lost. is ranieri really to blame for this ? Not really in my opinion but the team do you seem to be playing for him.

Realist Guy In The Room Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 We're not on course for 40 points.

There are arguments for and against Ranieri continuing - and we should be getting behind the team whether or not we think he should stay. But let's not distort history (see amendment above).
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 All season he hasn't known what his best team is and it's starting to be costly. 442 might be better but we looked shite playing with that early on too. I really think the defensive needs an overhaul probably in each position but certainly the centre halves. Both are playing like absolute donkeys and I've never seen so much hoof ball. We look old as a team suddenly and it's starting to look costly
Guest Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 you're forgetting that every team we play and lose against bar 5 other teams, we can always sing 'you'll never see that....' while they smash us 2/3/4/5 - 0 that's surely something to look forward to

Tuna Posted 23 January 2017 Posted 23 January 2017 It's not just yesterday's performance. The Chelsea second half showing, Bournemouth away, Watford away, Hull away, Sunderland away, West Brom home, Southampton home, United and Liverpool away, Boro home and away, we have been abject for most of this season. Ranieri won't turn it round. We're looking a lot like Newcastle under John Carver.
