Derby Match Thread

I assume looking at the team that the owners have told Ranieri that the league is what he will judged on and not the result of this match.

The team selection should make make for a fun evening though?

And what, if he plays them and they get injured?

What is more important to you: a decent cup run,

or avoiding relegation?

Both, they don't have to be mutually exclusive

Aside from seeing Was playing for us again, I don't actually mind that side. Aside from a few regulars Derby seem to be resting a good few players.

If Dimmy gray bags, Was gets booked and we win. I'm in the money!

It's still our second string squad... Transfer fee doesn't determine pecking order in the squad.

I will give you £2.56, packet of crisps (walkers obviously) and half a kit kat for Musa

Whatever the score and result, I'll say it before the game being the honest bloke I am....on paper, that looks a bloody awful side!

lol

There, said it..

3-5-2 and it may make sense.

It's not that. Don't care that they're not in.

It's the fact that the few who are performing (Kasper, N'didi) haven't been included.

Yeah only 2 I agreed on but if I'm honest I pray they stay fit for Sunday. But in a way too me it feels like they've dropped Morgan for example to rest for the weekend. When in reality he needs dropping on performances for rest of season.

Don't care about the rest.

Yeah, agree with that. Looking forward to seeing if he's any good.

What people will do is wait and see how we do then, if we win they'll say "see, it was right to play the kids..keep them in now", or if we lose it will be "I didn't mean for him to make THAT many changes".

Betcha.

Personally, I just find that selection amusing. It should be a really open, very entertaining game full of chances I reckon.

Well I'm going to say now I don't agree with the selection at all. I think we'll lose. We did a similar thing against Porto and got hammered so it's not as if the 'second team' really deserve a chance just because our first teamers have been shit.

This season it really hasn't mattered which side we've picked, we've still been crap, and I don't think tonight will be any different, but this could be embarrassing if derby are up for it.

I'm pleased to see Kapustka, Benny and Chilwell given a chance, and I'm not saying many of our current first team deserve a place but these are the wholesale changes that really devalue this competition. In a season of huge disappointment we really should be trying to take advantage of 2 ties against lower league opposition. Especially against Derby, and especially when so many performances have been so half-hearted.

There's always an excuse for us putting out crap teams in the FA Cup, either we're trying to get promoted, trying to stave of relegation, trying to win the league, etc. I'm a bit sick of it tbh. Last season we have Ulloa up front on his own, which was bound to fail. This time we've only got Musa who, by my recollection, has played twice up front for us this season, at most. We've not even got Kasper in, who's been one of our better players. There's clearly no intention to win this match at all.

I do seriously hope we win so we can have something positive to think about but I fully expect another limp, pointless performance.

If I'm wrong at least you can't say I didn't nail my colours to the mast!

I was really hoping never to see Was in a city shirt again - if his slowness isn't going to cost us Im certain his ill judged brutality will

He isn't slower than Huth and Morgan.

But you are right: he is always good for

a straight red one.

We're not big on owning people down here, not sure how far back in time Derby is mind.

Actually pleasantly surprised by that team selection, hope we smash them 4-5 nil and fingers crossed Ranieri has the balls to play them in the league

Can't argue with his thinking. Clear line of thought. Except Zieler. Cannot reconcile that! Wager on 50% of their 'shots on target' being goals ?
