SecretPro Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 Nice sentiment but not even a game changer, let alone a season changer.

Spicer Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 He has played 3-4 games so far, I believe he played 90 minutes for all. We shouldn't underestimate him, sure he isn't a game changer put he was alongside Cambiasso in our great escape season ahead of Drinkwater and King. Currently only Ndidi is really putting in good performances (CM's) with any consistency. So I don't see playing James to be a risk, I see it being more risky to continue with what has failed us for the past 7 months.

No, he's a box-to-box midfielder. Can he help us maintain possession and mount attacks and be a more dynamic team? Yes. Not everyone needs to be Stevie Gerrard FFS
ParkerPen Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 the best thing for both James and LCFC is for him to gain confidence and fitness playing 90mins or close to in a team that isn't in free fall for the rest of the season
Tuna Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 Thought we'd got a new signing for a moment. Free agent centre half Recall James.
crazyleicester Posted 16 February 2017 Posted 16 February 2017 Are you on crack? I cant remember my dates exactly but Im sure Matty was injured in April or May of 2015 which is fast approaching two years? He kept on being close to a comeback and but kept on relapsing. The club (rightly so) have slowly helped the bloke get into the type of physical condition where he can play a full 90 minutes. So lets move forward now. After almost two years out with no competitive football, you want a player who has been loaned out to the Championship where he has played 3 or 4 games recalled back to us? He clearly isnt fully ready for prem life and we need to ease him back with the hope he will be the player he was before his injury. At Barnsley he will get game time, match fitness and will get rid of any rustiness he had both mentally and physically so leave the lad there.

He would be a great signing for the likes of Hull, Sunderland etc, but, despite his promising displays for Barnsley, we should be looking to strengthen and try and replace him for another gem like Ndidi. I'm sorry but, what? So he's good enough for teams currently playing better than us and picking up more points than us and looking odds on to finish above us... but he's not good enough for us? ............... The best place for him is there and to get fit, no point in bringing him back here not 100% fit as he'll end up not playing and not getting match fit.

Apparently he's been immense, albeit in the championship. Surely if he's playing for Barnsley he's not on our prem squad list. So could not now be added. Anyway do we even have a recall option. As its an end of season loan.
foxy boxing Posted 16 February 2017 Posted 16 February 2017 let him have a season staying fit and getting some form after such a long time out and then see next season if he can be fitted into our squad and do a job here
CockneyFox Posted 16 February 2017 Posted 16 February 2017 James and Lawrence will be immense for us in the Championship next season. Maybe Amartey too.
GazzinderFox Posted 16 February 2017 Posted 16 February 2017 Rubbish idea. Bring him back so he can at best sit on the bench, really? The lad desperately needs to play and play and play then get a really solid pre-season under his belt and then he's back in the game along with all the other midfielders we have, that at the moment, seem to be very much on a similar level.

burleighfox Posted 16 February 2017 Posted 16 February 2017 Currently I'd rather have a half fit Matty James in the lineup than a fully fit Danny "plays for England" Drinkwater as he's been shambolic of late.

Lcfcwigstonblue Posted 18 February 2017 Posted 18 February 2017 Barnsley fans are singing his praises, they are saying things like imagine how good he will be when fully fit.

He was our engine in that midfield of three seasons ago. I suspect many don't believe he will ever be that player again. The first step is to regain match fitness and his shape (he has looked well bulky ever since he came back). If he can get those back and he has confidence in his knee then we have a great acquisition for next season (if the club keep him - when does his contract expire?)
NGoloMode Posted 18 February 2017 Posted 18 February 2017 Our loanees are on fire. James and Lawrence tearing the Championship apart. Same with Liam Moore.

Motivated players with something to prove. One of the reasons we're floundering is that we don't have many of them any more.
cityfanlee23 Posted 18 February 2017 Posted 18 February 2017 To be honest, the way we are playing at the moment i'm considering trying to get in contact with Michael Johnson to see if he fancies returning to football, he may be overweight and not kicked a ball in years but anything is better than the trash we have bar Ndidi. If james can be recalled GERRIMIN, Time to go back to basics.

Shame none of the current squad have anything to play for.
