I wondered why the odds dropped so massively this morning! To be honest I think someone got the wrong O'Neill

According to the mail...thoughts? More fake news? He's not got particularly low odds.

Tbf this article re enforces the rumours that shakey is to be given a chance until the end of season dependent on the showing against hull. I think this could be the case with hodgson. Been sounded out for talks maybe if it didn't go well for shakey these last 12 matches. Also, according to this paper yesterday, were they not saying hodgson was a shoe in for the job? So that's two others in consideration

Probably isn't.

Hodgson's finished as manager

He also managed in the Premier League as recently as 2012 where what he'd done was decent enough to warrant a call from our FA and has worked previously with players in our squad. O'Neill would be a massive gamble, more so than Hodgson. I genuinely don't get how anybody could think otherwise bar a dislike of Hodgson's personality.

Granted the league of Ireland is hardly a great standard but this is still reasonably impressive

"In October 2010, he guided Shamrock Rovers to win the 2010 League of Ireland title, their first league championship since 1994.[12] O'Neill led Rovers to the 2011 Setanta Sports Cup and then made history by being the first manager of a League of Ireland team to reach the group stages of a European competition.[13] Rovers defeated Partizan Belgrade in the play-off round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League.[13] Shamrock Rovers retained their league title in the 2011 season.[14][15] New contract talks between O'Neill and Shamrock Rovers stalled[16] and he left the club in December 2011.[17] O'Neill won the Soccer Writers Association Personality of the Year award for 2011.[18]"

O'Neill has big admirers in the Leicester boardroom

probably just Susan Whelan because she's a mick. She'd sound out Father Ted and Dave the Pikey King if she could

England were so poorly organised under him (he was in the job long enough to implement a style and other national managers are able to do it) that I think he'd be just as damaging as Claudio has been recently. He's not an inspiring choice for us as the fans and yes he's worked previously with players in our squad but I doubt Vardy holds him in particular high regard and whilst Shakespeare seems to be doing a decent job the players aren't going to be inspired either.

I'd disagree. Infact I'd go as far as to say they were superbly organised bar the big tournaments where he fell well short. His record in qualifying is nigh on impeccable.

Regardless of what you think of the bloke, simply stating he's worse than somebody who was managing Shamrock Rovers whilst he was guiding Fulham to a European final is wholly misguided.

I don't like Hodgson and I don't want him here but he's preferable to plenty of options and Michael O'Neill is one of them.

I went overboard with the praise of O'Neil and there aren't exactly a plethora of decent options so I've exaggerated, I really just don't want Hodgson. Hodgson's England were turgid and behind the times, that's not entirely his fault as the players at his disposal aren't amongst the international elite but still he was below par. We've seen this season that when we're trying to be disciplined and difficult to break down we can't absorb the pressure and then we have to chase a game, I can't envisage Hodgson playing to our strengths by being aggressive. O'Neil is completely unproven and not a good choice but for me he's preferable to Hodgson.

It won't matter after Shakey lifts the CL and we have finished 9th it will not happen. Even the storey says he is being sounded out. I would be surprised if we don't sound out a few incase Shakey did not work out.

I don't mind him in all honesty.

But I would have thought he'd like a crack at getting Northern Ireland to the world cup next year.

Above all, Shakespeare is still the preferred option though. Till the end of the season at least

agreed. World Cup is what you aim for being an international manager

Everyone who is being linked is going to be talked to. The owners are very savvy businessmen, they will know it is best to review every option and then make an informed choice.

My hope is that they go with Shakespeare. But the owners are going to talk to everyone.

It's a waiting game people.................. Everyone will be linked with the job

We'll just have to wait and see, remember very little was said about Claudio before he arrived

Rowett looks set for Rangers though
