GeorgeTheFox Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Mostly 8's and 7's. Gave Okazaki a 9 however and he was my MOTM. Felt like he played a bit deeper than usual and was pivotal today. Drinkwater was lowest with a 6... he didn't have a nightmare but also not his best game. Mahrez i thought had a great game despite the fact that he should have scored/assisted Vardy. Simpson actually had an influence going forward with two assists so deserves a mention! Benalouane and Huth were solid but perhaps let of the hook a couple of times by Crouch/ Arnautovic. Very good team performance
Treacle Fox Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Agree entirely on Okazaki MOTM, Drinkwater had a bit of an off day. I thought Mahrez was a touch slow in possession today and was a little disappointing. He can afford off days though when the team are playing as well as they are.

LanguedocFox Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Gray MOTM, with Okazaki a close second (9 each). Kasper (8) solid as a rock, defence (all 8) never gave Stoke a sniff, midfield (7s) solid, Mahrez and Vardy (7 each) slightly misfiring, but still threatening. I watched the game start to finish and loved every fvckin second of it.
Spiritwalker Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 I thought Shinji, Ndidi, Gray and Vardy were outstanding today.
Guest ttfn Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Schmeichel 7 Simpson 8 Huth 7 Benalouane 7 Fuchs 7 Mahrez 7 Drinkwater 5 Ndidi 8 Gray 8 Okazaki 8 Vardy 8 subs: Amartey 6 Stoke 4 - massive gap in quality between Allen, Arnautovic, Grant and everybody else. Ref 2 - should have sent off Shawcross. Fed up with those sorts of tackles being considered acceptable because they're not.
FireFox Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Just noticed the 'Manager Confidence' question isn't a simple stay or go. Though the answers are. Is Craig Shakespeare the right man for the job? Obviously he is until the end of the season, but is this question asking for beyond that?
Stadt Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 7's all around mostly, Stoke were poor so we didn't really need to get out of second gear.
Dickov22 Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Kasper 8 One important save near the end but rarely troubled Simpson 9 MOTM Superb defensively and two assists. Showed that sometimes it is worth just taking a chance and crossing a ball into the box. Unsung hero Huth 7 Solid Benalouane 7 Distribution sometimes dodgy but very good performance Fuchs 8 Excellent again Mahrez 6 Still not quite back to his best but good in spells. Didn't blame him for choosing to shoot near the end rather than pass to Vardy. Unlucky not to score Drinkwater 6 A bit sloppy in possession but decent enough Ndidi 8 First half he was sensational. Exciting to think he's only 20! Gray 8 Really good. I love the way he always looks to get a shot away. So positive Okazaki 8 I thought it was one of his best games for us. He's not really a goal threat but he's so effective at the moment. Possibly the most improved player since Shakey took over? Vardy 8 Excellent goal, full of running and his brilliant run and cross for Mahrez deserved a goal. Undoubtably back to his best Stoke were awful.
ZeGuy Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Schmeichel 7 Saved when he must. Good game overall. Simpson 8 Great game. 2 assists, solid defensively. W Huth 7 Good game Benalouane 7 Solid. Happy for him. Fuchs 7 See Benny. Mahrez 5 By his standards, not a good game. Should have given it to Vardy and kill the game once and for all. Drinkwater 5 Also not a great game. Ndidi 8 What a goal! A great midfielder in the making. Love the kid. Gray 7 He was very good. Decision making in the last third not that much. Okazaki 9 MOTM Gutted he didn't score. Vardy 8 Chased everything on the pitch. subs: Amartey 6 Did the job. Stoke 5 - Very average opposition. Lucky to get away with only 2 goals in the bag. Ref 6 - Decent game. Shitcross should have taken his shower earlier than the others though.
Guest MattP Posted 1 April 2017 Posted 1 April 2017 Won't vote until I've sobered up but Shinji was incredible, his best game in our and EVERYTHING we missed for months. NdidI great, Bena superb and.... Vardy yes that's if your unreal

Aus Fox Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Bonus point for Huth, for giving Berahinho a good whack in the first half, don't think he touched the ball after that. I remember Wasyl doing it to him for WBA a few years ago. As soon as it gets physical he goes into his shell.
Chico1958 Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 2-0 get's the 10 Clean sheet and another win.............

Alf Bentley Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Schmeichel 7 Mr. Consistent, good saves near end - player of the year Simpson 7 Very solid & better distribution Benalouane 6 Not threatened much but centre-back pairing lacked a little understanding/anticipation Huth 6 See above Fuchs 7 Sound forward and back Ndidi 8 MoM Dominant force, reliable passing, stunning goal Drinky 6 OK, not his best, a few loose passes Gray 7 Carried real threat, erratic corners Mahrez 7 Delightful skill but a bit greedy Okazaki 8 Usual Trojan work ethic, but better on his feet, good interventions, better passing, goal threat Vardy 8 Such an intelligent team player, led the line, superb goal (if crap defending by Johnson) Amartey 6 Solid, reliable sub Slimani/Chilwell N/A Shakespeare 8, Stay - Managing his way into a permanent PL Manager slot? Stoke 4 Mediocre performance, should have lost by more - and would have without.... Stoke keeper 9 Some stunning saves Ref 6 Most big decisions looked right (though Stoke offside goal looked dubious on MOTD), quite a few small ones wrong
foxinsox Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 Shakey 7 subs didnt help. Kasper 7 Simpson 8 Benny 7 didn't always play safe, would be caught out against a better side Huth 8 Stoke knew what they missed by selling him Fuchs 8 but faded against Arnutovic later on Mahrez 6 patchy Drinkwater 6 not at his best Ndidi 8 MOTM Gray 8 a bit too selfish at times, but always a threat, corners need work. Okazaki 8 Great stuff and kept upright more than usual Vardy 8 great goal Amartey 6 didn't settle quickly and uncertain of position Slimani 5 not what we needed Chilwell 6 no time to do much Stoke pretty pisspoor apart from Arnutovic and goalie who did some stunning saves.

What do you mean 'subs didn't help'? I thought his subs at West Ham were awful and he learnt from them. Yesterday we were 2-0 up and he chose subs that helped us see the game out and keep a clean sheet. The subs were perfect.

Each of the subs seemed logical enough at the time, but the overall effect seemed to be to put us on the back foot. He needs to sort out the "last half hour syndrome" that has affected us in most of the matches recently. Doing a fantastic job though.

Stoke troubled us no more post subs than they did pre subs. We saw the game out far more effectively yesterday than we did at West Ham. I'd imagine slimani is giving him a pretty hard time about lack of game time. No harm giving him the last 15 for a tired Okazaki and Vardy.....
Topman Posted 2 April 2017 Posted 2 April 2017 I thought okazaki especially the first 45 minutes he was absolutely incredible, he was unplayable. Stoke just didn't how to handle him, the way he use his body, first touch will put slimani to shame for someone his size. I even joked to my friend we was watching Messi on Saturday, if only that overhead kick went in... best performance i have seen shinji played for a long long time

Okazaki had an excellent game and he was very good, but you can't outright say he puts Slimani to shame if Slimani in 2017, doesn't even have half of the minutes Okazaki have. Okazaki had really bad games too, people are forgetting about that, but when I say bad, they were really bad, like the game agaisnt Millwall.

I think we should give all the players a clean slate now that we have a new manager. There's only one player who's disappointed me since Shakespeare took the reigns and that's Musa, who only had a run around for a few minutes in a high pressure situation. Okazaki has been given time to prove himself and he has done so, hopefully Slim and the others will as well in the coming games.
