The atmosphere yesterday

Recommended Posts

I couldnt get an away ticket yesterday so was sat among the home fans. Thought our fans were great. Albion fans were probably the worst i have seen all season in terms of volume of support.

I thought our end yesterday was one of the best this season. Admittedly not hard, but that was a lot more like it and I can't work out why it isn't like that every time. Much better.

I agree about their fans too. They were awful and they're usually pretty good.

To be fair to them, they haven't scored for 6 games and the team's been on holiday for a month, they didn't have much to sing about. What was all that they were singing about someone's shagging your wife?

Surprised to see these comments.

I was right on the end on the right and not that many people around me sang.

I thought we were just like normal but obviously depends where you get.

I thought it was fairly average.

When we were loud we were properly loud but there were fairly long periods of next to no noise from either set of fans.

Admittedly the game was hardly inspiring.

Was at the bottom behind the goal to the right and was very disappointed with the atmosphere. Tried my best and there were a few around like-minded, but on the whole I thought it was crap!

Was better than most recent awayers. The lads at the back gave it some gusto.

This isn't a criticism but we appear to have a really aging away support. I mamaged to stand but it didn't think it was going to happen at one point without flasks and blankets being wielded like batons.

I was down there and all, I think part of it is by the time the song has travelled down to the front, it's stopped being sung by the core group who started it and we're picking it up at the end. Like you say, several like minded around me but no where near enough. A fair few to my right who were told to sit down by sterwards because one of the oldest men I have ever seen wanted to sit down and had a ticket 8 rows back but refused to relocate to the front in order for those behind him to stand.

Actually I might have to look at old footage, but I was surprised the front row in one half of the away end actually stood. I think it all depends on who you get at the front of the stand. Get a core group of people who want to stand and you'll get standing. In the main though I agree, you can usually get a sense very quickly who is going to sit.

Away end atmosphere was good, certainly better than Arsenal which seemed to have more daytrippers in our end than I can remember (also the Arsenal fan next to me in the away end.) As for the home end, I keep coming away from pretty much every ground now just noting the same thing: Home fans are silent and all they do is bay for the referee to give fouls and book our players. PL crowds have become quiet, whiny and entitled

The weird thing with West Brom is that their fans moan about giving up at 40 points but there was absolutely zero anticipation before the game in the pubs, on the train and in the ground. Hardly gets the players going

You pay for a seat why shouldn't you sit down.

I rarely have sat away from home. no intention of sitting , its never good when you cant get your legs in, im one of the older fans, i would stand at the KP if i had a chance

Thought about relocating to an area where you can?

It's another of those if you want to sit - fine, but sit with others at the front in order for those that want to stand can stand. The majority of supporters away from home choose to stand and therefore that's the best solution for both parties.

I was about 10 rows from front and I'd say the first 5/6 sat as usual. All my row stood but rarely sung, it was weird.

Ok but you made a point about saying you wanted to stand at Filbert Way and you can if you want to.

I personally find it a very strange mindset of going to a football game and not singing.

It would be stranger to go to a football game and not watch the football, singing is an optional extra at the end of the day.

I always stand or move to where I can, we have a weird cross section of fans in our ends most of the time and it can be hard work waking them up.
