stevelcfc Posted 23 May 2017 Posted 23 May 2017 He's unofficially retiring, which translates as waiting for a big offer from China, States or the Middle East.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 23 May 2017 Posted 23 May 2017 Is it just me that likes Big Sam as a manager? Not saying 'get him in right now' or anything but I wouldn't be unhappy with him in charge at all. Very underrated I think and unfairly labelled. Big Sam's problem is that rightly or wrongly he seems to have gained a reputation as being only a troubleshooter. Guaranteed to deliver safety, but incapable of anything more.

And some quality players Never really been anywhere for long after that, West Ham probably following

"Er, would Sam be interested in getting us out of the shit?"Hopefully we wont be one of those clubs ringing.
one F in Fox Posted 23 May 2017 Posted 23 May 2017 He may well be a very good manager The FA certainly thought so. It's just that he comes across as so arrogant, the way he slouches back in his chair arms crossed chewing his gum winds me up something chronic. Wouldn't want him anywhere near our club. (unless we're right in the shit half way through next season)

And it used to wind me up when he called the league the Barclays Premier League 3 or 4 times in every answer he gave.
Tuna Posted 23 May 2017 Posted 23 May 2017 Retired to spend more time with his family apparently. Seems rather abrupt, I wonder whether there has been a health scare of some sort, he had heart surgery a few years ago.
Stadt Posted 23 May 2017 Posted 23 May 2017 He's from Dudley which is surprising as he's a professional northerner
HybridFox Posted 23 May 2017 Posted 23 May 2017 Claudio "favourite" according to the bookies. Can't see it personally but it won't be 5000/1 either
Lovejoy Posted 24 May 2017 Posted 24 May 2017 Palace fan I know who is reasonably well informed thinks they're trying to hijack Marco Silva's move to Porto. No idea yet whether it'll come off.

SCP1906 Posted 25 May 2017 Posted 25 May 2017 Marco Silva isn't that good. He's better than Nuno Espírito Santo, former Porto manager/coach so for Porto it would be an upgrade, but he really isn't as good as the press makes him up. Best portuguese manager right now is Leo Jardim. Then Mourinho. Then Jorge Jesus. There are at least 2 or 3 more before Marco Silva comes in this top. 6th-7th place in managers rank may look good, but Portugal - despite being Euro Champion, having the best player in the world, and some top players - is a small country that doesn't have many average/big football Clubs.
Tuna Posted 26 May 2017 Posted 26 May 2017 Turns out one of the ladies killed in the terror incident in Manchester is the wife of Mark Taylor ex Blackpool player, good mate of Big Sam worked with him at Blackpool, Bolton, Newcastle and Sunderland. I guess Sam's revaluated his life and decided to focus on what's important in his life.
