Scotland vs England June 10th

Recommended Posts

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Aaron Cresswell (West Ham United), Ben Gibson (Middlesbrough), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Jake Livermore (West Bromwich Albion), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

Forwards: Jermain Defoe (Sunderland), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City).

Players called up to the England Squad.

My first reactions

- 4 goalkeepers? Not sure on that

- Trippier, I really like Trippier so nice to see him in the squad

- No Sturridge, probably too soon from his injury to consider him.

- Ben Gibson, will his value go up even more now with another cap?

- What does Marc Albrighton need to do to be considered, serious lack of width in that midfield.

So what are your initial thoughts?

not sure on 4 GKs either. For 2 games it's redundant to have 4 in there.

I'd rather never see Sturridge in a squad again. He'll get called up, get injured at the wrong time, prevent another player's chance of a call up. He's too much of a liability and very selfish on the pitch. Happy with the 4 strikers chosen going forward.

Glad Rooney's time is up as well. Appreciate his efforts in the past but he wasn't giving much to the side now.

Wouldn't be so sure his times up.

Just not not played enough and Southgate has said that along with that even at 34 if you're playing well like Defoe is there's a way back.

Play for a top 6 team

Be on the bench for a top 6 team

Be at the under 23s for a top 6 team

Fart in the general direction a top 6 team.

Basically.

There is a logical reason behind picking 4 keepers.

The under 21's are in a tournament, so if we had 3 keepers, we wouldn't be able to call up one of them to cover an injury.

Everyone else will be off on their holidays and be unavailable.
