Replacing Mahrez?

Gelson Martins

Adrien Silva and João Mário

                                Vardy

        G. Martins      João Mário         Albrighton

                         Ndidi      Adrien

Martins can play on both sides, João Mário can play in any position in midfield or wings.

Slimani and Drinky, depending of the game could play too.

With Gelson Martins and/or João Mário playing Slimani would score a lot.

A dream as a fox/Leicester City FC fan, a nighmare as a lion/Sporting CP fan to see Martins and Silva leave.

Is martins realistic? He's quality.

Random fact of the day: Ezgjan Alioski did actually play in the third tier of Swiss football once not so long ago.

But 50p won't do. :D

Not just me who thinks he looks a bit like Griezmann then?

Martins is more of a dream to Leicester.
Unless Leicester makes 50M pounds selling Mahrez and spends 40M of those millions in Martins.

But I don't know if Martins would want to come. Despite salary raise, to get him Leicester would need a well known manager or a know portuguese manager like Jardim.
He's still young and can improve. He knows that and if he moves from Sporting he will want a manager/Club that could give him that.

Martins is better than Bernardo Silva and Man city paid 43M for Bernardo's transfer.

Bernardo Silva is a very good player but sometimes he hides himself from the game, like he's afraid of something.
And refused to make a penalty kick in a Euro sub 21 final... in penaltys .. forcing a injured William Carvalho make the penalty kick - and he missed and Portugal lost that final (2015).

Gelson Martins probably will be the best portuguese player when Ronaldo hang up boots or goes to USA.
Until now he is the best prospect to replace Ronaldo as best portuguese and best bet for Portugal having another world class player, after Figo and Ronaldo.

Martins gave Marcelo a big headache when Sporting played against Real Madrid this season. You can watch Martins against Madrid and some more games of him in youtube.

Going after the right players for progression... be surprised if we landed any though, we would have to fork out a lot to have a chance

How come William Carvahlo hasn't moved yet? Linked with clubs since about 2015..?

W. Carvalho is linked with big clubs since 2014 after an amazing season with Leo Jardim as manager.

In 2013 Sporting almost went bankrupt, so for 2013-2014 sold/released some players with big wages and called to first team some of the best youngsters it had.

In that season, with few good players and a few lads Sporting made a really good season (2sd place, almost winning our league), and the midfield was the core of that good performance: Adrien Silva and an unknown lad as defensive midfield.. that two years before was playing as a centre back - William Carvalho.

Carvalho, Silva and Patrício (goalkeeper) never left Sporting because the Club is really trying to be champion in primeira liga.

Sporting right now is financially stable and doesn't need money as before.

Last season Sporting only sold Slimani mostly because Slimani wanted to move and was promised to him that he could go for a right price - he wanted to leave the season before (2015, to Leicester City FC too I believe), Sporting didn't alowed but promised he could go the season after that.

And so he went, despite Sporting didn't needed the money - João Mário was sold for 35M few weeks before.

This season I believe Sporting will sell Adrien Silva or Carvalho.

Maybe both, but only for the right price (read this as: at least one of them for a transfer close to the release clause - 40/45M).

Silva made some pressure to leave Sporting last season, Carvalho maybe too but if he did, it was more quietly.

I believe that to one of them was promised that he could leave this summer, but to both leave..one of them will be for a transfer fee close to release clause.

The fact Adrien silva wanted to move to LCFC last summer, do you think sporting will be more lenient in negotiations? Is there a good chance that Leicester could sign Adrien Silva or are bigger teams in for him?

I think Sporting is willing to let Adrien go this season for something like 25-30M€.

Leicester offered 25M€ last season, I think, and for that amount he could go this season.

But if Sporting sells another player for 15/20M€ [Patricio] or above that [William Carvalho, Gelson Martins or Bas Dost] before Adrien Silva then..Silva price will be higher, again.

To sell players Sporting probably will wait until FIFA Confederations Cup ends [beginning of July] to see if Silva, Carvalho, Patrício or Martins have a higher value.

But Sporting will play Uefa Champions league acess playoff, so the season will start sooner this year, so a late move like Slimani's last year probabily wont happen again.

But there's fresh news: Sporting CP bought Braga's box-to-box midfielder Rodrigo Battaglia, wich is Adrien position.. but it's not confirmed..yet

Sporting CP needs a backup player to Adrien Silva position, but maybe it's a sign that he can move to other Club - yet if Silva leaves, Sporting will need another really good player for that position.

Lets be honest, if the club see Gray or Lawrence as his immediate replacement then we may aswell all go home now.

Really go then.

But let me point a few things out first. Some thought Clarridge Cottee and Marshall were past it.

At the start of the promotion season Vardy and Drinky were shite. Pearson should have been sacked for picking them.

We were relegated and Pearson should be sacked in the great escape. I like a lot although I backed him thought CR was a bad appointment.

Are you getting my point?

Try giving players a proper chance before fvcking moaning.

Vardy 2014/15 5 goals in 34 apperences. Next year got 24 goals from 36 games. I don't think anyone truely believes he will get 20 goals next season but give him a consistent run of games, make him our first team Lw (move Albrighton to the Rw) and he will get 10 goals next year I reckon. Young players need game time to develop and I will be disapointed if we go out and spend £30 million on a winger when we already have Lawrence, Barnes, Kapustka and Gray that can play in that position. Give them a chance and spend the money elsewhere like Cb, Rb, Cm and St. He can't do any worse then Mahrez this year.

So you'd trust gray to replace Mahrez next season? Baring in mind £100s of millions are at stake?
