We would be no worse off without Mahrez based on this season in my opinion. Gray is capable of stepping in and having a similar impact. We'd also be about 40 million better off, which would give us the freedom to gamble 20 odd million on his replacement knowing we have Gray to step in just in case new signing does a Musa.

In terms of a replacement, I have been watching a lot of Dutch football this season and I reckon players such as the following could do a good job: Milot Rashica, Bertrand Traore, Arber Zeneli.

We'd finish about 15th with that side, maybe lower.

Milot Rashica wasn't very good for his national team in the euros and the world cup qualifiers so I can't imagine him in the premier league

That team is practically 100% reliant on Vardy scoring goals to keep us in the Prem. As much as I like Shinji's work rate and passion, he just doesn't score goals - and without the creative flair from Mahrez, his chances to score goals will be very minimal

Fuchs (4), Albrighton (6), Vardy (5), Slimani (4) all have more assists than Mahrez (3) this season, who has the same amount as Gray (3).

Looks a solid footballer from what I've seen.

i think the tea lady would have put in more effort than mahraz, so just about any one who can tie there shoe laces up would be better. but being fair dinkum he is brilliant, but he just refused to put in this year

Don't need to spend a load of money for the sake of having it like last summer!

Gray should be the immediate replacment! He'll only get better

I like Gray, but my main concern is that he is more direct than Mahrez, and less likely to pass.

Not that Mahrez is always eager to release the ball when he should, but you know what I mean.

He picks the right pass? Is that what you mean? His decision making is much better.

I'm sure we can replace Mahrez's four goals from open play. Gray and Albrighton had better assist stats... and Mahrez barely created any chances for Vardy this season. The Mahrez of last season wouldn't be greatly missed.

No one else was assiting Vardy anyway? Not just Mahrez.

Sort of. He's definitely improved, but when he gets the ball I'm never fully convinced he's going to look for a team-mate until his own options run out. Unlike Mahrez, who has that selfish flair-player streak, but also very willing to release the ball as soon as he sees someone making a good run.

I think he's just not a playmaker is all, which is why we need another creative player in the team to make Gray perform his role better.

If our only solution to replacing Mahrez is with Gray....we are ****ed!!

Gray is an out and out winger and is more suited to being a long term (upgraded to some extent) replacement for Albrighton, not Mahrez.

Gray doesnt have that creative element that a Mahrez brings. Mahrez is on his way out and if we have to wait till January for his replacement (I.e Kante), than we are shambles.

Why do you think Kaputska hasn't been given a chance ?

Probably because he's not shown enough to make the manager think that he should be in the team?

While I agree with you it is not just assists that create goals. Mahrez often starts the moves and his occasional moments of brilliance lead to goals even if he doesn't make the final pass. He also draws so many defenders. No one else really does that for us.

And those players don't have 3 men on them as soon as they get the ball.

Ivan Perisic from Inter would be the perfect fit, but he's out of our league and it seems that Man Utd are closing in on him.

Dusan Tadic has always impressed me, as has Marko Arnautovic.

Whilst not ideal, the following may possibly come into contention if we wanted to spend the 'big' money elsewhere:

Jams McClean

Knockaert

Whabi Kazri

Nigel Redmond

Kamil Grosicki
