Not many clubs are doing much atm as players and club officials are on holidays. Just because it's not all over the press it don't mean we are doing nothing.

I was actually suggesting they might have been sorting signings out before announcing the manager, to keep it all under wraps and out of the way. Perhaps they'll issue an official apology to GaelicFox for not telling him exactly what they're trying to do.

Durnerz Posted 10 June 2017 Posted 10 June 2017 Really want him to do well but fear he could be gone by Christmas. Hopefully we bring in enough quality for Shakey to make a good go of it. We need it.

I still don't know why it took so long. I want to think Top was making sure Shakey's got enough support. But apart from announcing Shakey I've seen no differences as yet. I can only imagine it was something like this for two months.

I suspect there was a lot of debate amongst the inner circle that delayed this appointment, otherwise there is no rhyme or reason for waiting. It doesn't bode well for Shakey, because if my assumption is true, there were people at the club who were looking elsewhere for a manager. If Shakey has a hiccup, I suspect it will embolden those people at LCFC to rid of him...just like it will embolden those here who do not want Shakey to give a resounding "I told you so". I for one will support Shakey, though in all honesty, I would have preferred someone else. I believe he will need time and patience, as all new managers do. I hope he's a great success (failure would just be awful, and no "I told you so" would make me feel better).

Chico1958 Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 As for transfer's the Window opens in three weeks time I think July 1st, so it's all rumours until then........... just something to fill the back page. Of course I maybe wrong but I would expect Shakespeare to have a "Good" right hand man by then. Reading about how well Lawrence, Barnes and James did on loan and hopefully Mendy getting fitter maybe we won't be looking at to many coming in Maybe two or three............ As for Shakespeare best of luck and fingers crossed

As for Shakespeare best of luck and fingers crossed Lawrence, Barnes, James and Mendy are all uncertainties/gambles ... We can't have another season of that, lessons need to be learnt from the debacle of last season. We NEED to splash the cash on established PL experienced players... Sigurdsson would be the best example of exactly that ! We need to show some ambition, some intent, to challenge again for a top 6 place... That means huge investment and not just relying and hoping that what we've already got will come good.
RumbleFox Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 I honestly despair at this forum sometimes. Even though I should know better by now I still expect more. All this panic and smoke screen and "oh my God our club is a shambles" bullsh1t. Worrying about nothing. Creating conspiracy theories. What is actually wrong with some of you? Do you still think we never landed on the moon too? It did not actually take that long in the grand scheme of things and our new manager is in pace in plenty of time. I don't understand why some people constantly look for the worst possible outcome, almost praying for failure so that they can then revel in their own self righteous "I told you so" smugness. As far as I can see it they took a couple of weeks to make a decision that is absolutely crucial to our future, one I am glad they didn't rush. But, even so, it hardly dragged on for months. I should rise above it and not bother commenting but I woke up needing a wee and feel angry. Might just lie here and release it. I will regret it long term but for a few, short seconds it will be the best feeling ever. Rumble. X

Some clearly have no idea re legal contract complexities etc. For whatever reason, it seems there was a complication that the club were not prepared to allow to stand without being sorted prior to the announcement. Shakey knew he had the job, the players knew he had the job, any targets we are pursuing were likely told he had the job. As I've said before, it's only the fans that were in the dark and who knows if the 'ITK leaks' were deliberate to keep us in some form of daylight.

Calm down weller54 ( By the way my favourite player of the Bloomfield era ) Luton Goal 1973 or 4 I didn't say don't sign players, two or three I think I said As for gambles, everything in life is a gamble...............Shakespeare will/should know whats best for the club That's why he's now the boss and that's what he will be judged on, not mine, yours or anybodies opinion on this thread. Splash the cash, but splash it wisely..... Agreed on the Sigurdsson, show some ambition and aim for top six though

However, I think some of the concern has arisen from the shambles that was LAST summer and I think it's going to take some time for that to dwindle from people's minds. Personally, now that Shakey is appointed, I think it's important to secure targets and to get them in early. Rather than this seemingly 'panic buying', let's get who we want, get em gelled into the squad and training together as soon as they return from their break.
