Scotch Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Solid choice. He knows the club, the players, Rudkin, the owners, our style (which I presume will not change now) and the expectations of the fans (well, the realistic ones at least) For me, he was the least risky wayou to go and a new manager would have meant a more turbulent pre season with potential turmoil in the squad and a new philosophy being implemented. I think we're in a better place now to have a good pre season and at a more advanced stage for recruitment seeing as he's sat in on the meetings that have already taken place and had his tuppence worth. Excited to see us go on and get in some players and coaches. Really happy for him, he's earned this and anyone who doubts that, ask yourself this... If a new manager had come in after CR's departure and done what Shakey has done, would you want him sacked? I have to believe that the answer to that is a no.
m4DD0gg Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Excellent stuff!! Hope he can continue his run but at the same time learn from some of the mistakes and get a decent back room team in. Perhaps now we can start spending some wedge, I just hope the lack of high profile manager does not put players off.
Babylon Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 I think it's right to give him a chance, with the right staff and right recruitment he can do a solid job.
StriderHiryu Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Congrats Shakey! He did a great job and deserves the chance. He's the type of manager what will be at the training ground every day and will get the best out of our players. Don't forget he's been with us through everything great in our modern history so far. Hopefully our owners reamin ambitious and support him in strengthening the first team and squad for next year.
Hammo Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Whether you wanted him appointed or not, the fact is he DESERVED the job. There is some justice in life after all. Let's all wish him good luck and get fully behind him. I'm sure the players will. ...and if you're still not happy, just console yourself with the fact that there will be no more talk of bloody Roy Hodgson...
Legend_in_blue Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Slightly underwhelming tbh. The safe choice. Bring in quality players and my view might become a more positive one. Mind you, with Rudkin running that side of things, I'm even more underwhelmed tbf.

purpleronnie Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Do people honestly think another available manager would've done a better job than shakey did? I can't help but feel people want a big name manager just for the sake of having a big name manager.
wurmer Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Uninspiring. He'll be gone by Christmas. Slate me if you want, but watch this space.

RumbleFox Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Very pleased for him, deserves a chance. Good luck Craig. So, all in all it took a couple of weeks. As usual all the absolute shite posted on here was nonsense. X

norwichfox Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 I'm not convinced that it's the best decision, but I'm totally pleased that it's sorted and we can progress "other business"...errrr...Welcome aboard Craig
Foxxed Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Why did it take so long? The end of the season gave me doubts, and I do think the transition from amiable coach to manager will be tough. But I do believe he can learn and improve. And if this gives our youth team development a boost it will be fantastic for the club. A tough and challenging season ahead of him, but it will be wonderful we succeed.
Chico1958 Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Not convinced but best of luck to the guy............. I really hope we go out and get the best we can to support him Maybe a Sammy Lee or Mike Phelan type character or someone of that ilk Then press on. Now let's see if the players can press on with the man they wanted to be Manager. What I don't wash is a car crash and excuse after excuse for poor perfomances and us looking at replacements come Jan

brucey Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Leicester City Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “Craig has shown all the qualities in leadership, motivation and talent management that are required to be successful in this role. Those qualities, aligned with his first class coaching acumen, his knowledge of Leicester City and its philosophy, and the respect he has earned at every level of the Club make him the ideal choice to help take us forward. “Our primary objective for the coming years is to successfully translate the extraordinary experiences of the last two seasons into lessons that will strengthen and enhance the Club’s pursuit of its long-term vision of sustainable success. Continuity is among the key elements to making such a process work. “Over the last nine years, Craig has built a unique insight into the catalysts for success at Leicester City, its impact on our personnel and the conditions needed to ensure its longevity.” Craig Shakespeare said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for me to continue along this new path in my career and to continue to work with a club and a group of staff I’ve grown extremely close to. I’m grateful to the owners and the Board of Directors for their continued faith and support. “Our preparations for pre-season and the new Premier League campaign have been on-going for some time, but we can now move on with certainty and ensure we are well equipped to compete at the levels now expected of a club like Leicester City.”
Kitchandro Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Hardly unexpected but I'm underwhelmed. This is a big summer for us. We've already forfeited our place among the elite but now it is whether we can be a regular top 7/8 outfit or a stagnating Stoke or even Sunderland. The first bad bad step towards the latter type of club is appointing an outdated, ambitionless manager, which I fear we have just done.

We all need to get behind the man that saved us from relegation and got us to the quarter finals of the CL. IMO excellent choice. Go on Shakey make us proud.
