Ambition isn't the problem...it's experience....not often does a former number two step up to be a success...I hope he is, but I can't see it at all...and if you genuinely think he will be able to land Gilfry..think again, we will struggle to acquire most of our big targets now.

Gilfry?

lol

I am amazed at the number of doubters. What more could the man do to deserve a chance? Anyone with a modicum of common sense could see that the slow end to the season was a combination of factors such as resting players before cl games or playing sides who are still a level above us, not to mention some poor reffing decisions.

Obviously there is some risk but there would be with literally any manager.

I think the doubters are clouded by either the Spurs game, or the final league position when it could of been top half but for a Slimani wasted effort v Bournemouth. If you'd of offered anyone 12th in Feb we would of all buzzed over that.

Delighted with this announcement, i was starting to get a bit worried :sweating:

Shakeys proven himself a top coach and he did a top job overall during our mini-season post-Claudio, in a sport where loyalty is a hard thing to come by he's been a massive part of this clubs success since he walked through the doors with Big Nige - and he deserves this opportunity. Sure there are never any guarantees for success, this is football - but he has a lot of backing from key members of our squad - and by all accounts had a bigger impact upon our Champions season than he perhaps got credit for. It's Shakeys time and i've always had this feeling with him that he's quite underrated due to his manner and how he handles himself.

Let's hope we hit the ground running and get that positive momentum going - if we can do that we will be something for every side to worry about

I would like to give all the doubters this great big chance...

who in all your wildest dreams, would be that manager, that would give us more, who in your minds would be a more ambitious selection, who would be that Mr Right, that we know would take up the offer and be a better success........

Come on...tell us please, give us the same chance to debunk your would be better choices......

Guaranteeing us top 6, for the next 3 yrs...playing sublime football...

So easy to criticise, when nothing can be proven......or pre designated with logical argument....

oooppss silly me, its obvious !!!     Anybody but the one that actually gets chosen...

I have said it before but Shakey needs a support mechanism in place Stowell is not that! He's a GK coach, someone experienced as a Number 2 would be helpful.

I am sure Shakey has people in mind, it's important to bring these people in asap. Lot of work to do at the club.

Good. Now lets get the Monks on Long Term contracts before Everton or some Chinese Club make a bid for them.

What's the odds for him being the first PL Manager to be sacked next season?

Hopefully favourites as the last two times that was the case (2013/14 & 2015/16) we ended up winning the league.

I think this is great news and have full trust in Shakey and the owners

To all the people doubting the appointment, please don't forget we finished the season with pretty much the whole spine of the team injured, players having to play out of position, numerous officiating errors that cost us a top half finish, only a few months after looking like 19th would have been a decent finish - if Shakey had had the full season I can't imagine we would have finished outside of the top 7

I just realised through this whole saga I didn't hear or see anybody say "to be or not to be, that is the question". Missed opportunity.

To the people that said no, why aren't you happy with his appointment??

Poor against good teams. Too defensive at Madrid, at Arsenal, at Manchester City (it took us to go 2 down before we did anything decent) and the less said about Spurs the better.

Having a full summer to rebuild the squad, get in your own players etc is much different and more difficult than just coming in for a few months to keep a club you're already respected at up.

I was up for change to shake the players up who only upped their game when the media were on their backs, and in two out of the last three games did not it follow Shakeys instructions.

Add the fact the majority on here think it's a good move; I dont think it will work out.

Teally think they should have pushed the boat out paying for a new manager.

Meh.

Lacks ambition on an enormous level. I've said before and I'll say again, I think he's the right man to get the best out of Vardy, Drinkwater, Albrighton and co' but you'd like to think the club will continue to grow. Last season was by no means stellar and even Shakespeare's half of it ended with a serious fizzle.

We need serious development of the playing squad and a serious look at how we develop a plan B to control games against wastegash sides.

I don't want to watch another season of us letting shit like Palace, Bournemouth and Watford dominate possession while we kid ourselves that people haven't yet sussed out how to defend our punt-it-long-to-Vardy.

Think it's a good decision, personally.

No big-name manager, so media will probably be off his back and that could turn to his advantage if the team collects strong results initially in the season.

But, the only downside could begetting targets from overseas on this, considering the name 'Craig Shakespeare' probably won't ring any bells for potential abroad targets.

Fantastic news. The most tactical astute coach we've had this club for a long while, if not ever.

He proved against A.Madrid that he has this team on strings.

I know a few people will be worried that he hasn't got the pulling power to get high calibre players in, I really do think he'll go about his business quietly and confidently this summer and we'll buy  young, hungry, talented players next season (mixed with a bit of experience) to get a cohesive and successful squad.

Happy days :scarf::scarf::scarf:

Not just a vote of trust in Shakespeare, but a vote of trust in everyone whom we barely know the names of, who have played an enormous role in 4 years of unexpected and utterly delightful success.

Good luck Craig!  Let's get behind our man and our team now.

Can we add a disclaimer for Rudkin?
