So, bit of a brouhaha involving JRM, apparently.

Seems to be about fifty different interpretations of what happened.

The videos are all online. JRM was speaking at a University, a bunch of thugs walked in and shouted him down, he approached thugs to debate with them. The think w@nkers didn't have anything to say so carried on shouting. It started to get physical between some of the other attendees and JRM tried to keep them apart. Reported by the BBC as "JRM involved in scuffle".

That's not really relevant is it?

I thought you'd want to celebrate the improvements in schools?

It was a perfectly managed indirect leadership announcement.

Saw footage that one of the JRM supporters threw the first punch and things went from there, but as I can't be sure that's the full footage I've got no real idea.

Ha, that wouldn't surprise me tbh.

The state of them.

Hard to believe they've the brains to get into university.

Screencap only, sadly, though in the film I saw white shirt guy throws the first one.

Either way, it's all pretty damn ridiculous.

The guy in the white shirt punched the blonde woman.

With everyone now having camera’s to hand, we as a nation really should be providing a free 1-2 day course on how to take pictures / film, so we can get decent footage of these types of incidents.

First one last night too far away / too short.

These two, too close up.

And would you t hurt for someone to add a few cuts / after affects?

Bloody ameaturs!

How the right have the audacity to get outraged over some student twats disrupting a speech just a day after another one of their ranks was jailed for life for an actual terrorist attack which killed someone is beyond me.

Maybe the two weren’t in the same WhatsApp group?

There are a couple of strange things about that situation in that;

  • For a reasonably large event for a Uni, there appeared to be no one on the door?
  • Despite the situation going on for a while - no one came in from the Uni to stop it / calm things down - it was left to JRM

If he’s come to speak, it would have been via an invite - and the Uni would surely know it would attract ‘attention’ so why weren’t reasonable precautions made?

What was a rather crude demo, should never have been able to take place like that. If you place at least some protection / prevention measures it usually means a higher grade of demo, due to the need to actually plan something - these were just chancers with hoodies and shades.

Can we not be outraged by both?

et voila.

People who are using either to have a go at the other side are actually outraged by neither.

Quite, I have no intention of doing so but I’m a bit perplexed that either should be claimed as one of their own by anyone on here.

They are both cases of abhorrent extremism, admittedly on completely different levels but my views and beliefs are not on any level with either as I imagine are anybody else’s here.

Not sure whether it's depressing or laughable, probably both.

I wonder if white shirt man was security, a lecturer or a student? He looks older.

Whether deliberately or accidentally, he does seem to hit the woman while he and the loudmouth tosser are trying to get at one another.

Mind you, I'd have felt like thumping that loudmouth in the hood and sunglasses myself.

Why not take JRM's arguments on? I'm sure he did a Q&A. Probably because morons like that would be incapable of forming a coherent argument...
