The definition of a brawl is a noisy (check) uncontrolled (check) fight (check). I think it fits ok. Sure I’ve seen worse, that’s why I said minor. They turned up in balaclavas and kicked off, if you guys seriously think that’s acceptable and normal that’s really worrying.

If we’re doing dictionary definitions then there was no fight because there was no exchange of blows. One person threw what looked more like a pat on the head than a punch and then a few people brushed against each other. It wasn’t even that noisy and was all under control quite quickly. Seems that it fails to meet the definition of brawl quite comprehensively. Fight: a violent struggle involving the exchange of physical blows or the use of weapons. Imagine the characters such as Trump, Boris, Corbyn, Abbott, May etc. it would be brilliant. I guess TV execs are too scared though these days as everyone would be offended.. Yes, I was being too insular. There are certainly some characters on the international stage who are ripe for humour: Trump, Putin (bare-chested on a horse)...

Nah, he was too close for the follow up hook. A knee to the bollox was the smart move.

I didn't stick up for the Tories in any way in my post. I was just referencing a story. Corbyn and Adams go way back. As I said, it's no surprise. 1
leicsmac Posted 4 February 2018 Posted 4 February 2018 I've said it before and I'll say it again: considering the depth to which the Irish question goes, quite frankly no one side can claim moral superiority, and I'm honestly surprised that people try. It's one of those sad situations that has degenerated into tit-for-tat enmity for no real good reason. See also the Arab-Israeli Conflict.

The only time you pop into this thread is to post something derogatory about Labour, so don't pretend you don't have an agenda. Still, it's no surprise. My apologies for having the audacity to pull you up on it.

I must've missed the memo about it FWIW - I like scanning this thread for all different types of views from all sides. Ultimately they're all pretty much as bad as each other and then you make a choice regarding which is the least shite option when it comes to voting. 1

If any of that was true you'd be able to point me to a quote where you criticised the Tories, but I'm certain you can't. It's called balance.

Sounds like balance to me, Bruce.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 4 February 2018 Posted 4 February 2018 (edited) A united Ireland is a worthy political cause in the same respect a united Great Britain is. Hopefully the left and secularists in Ireland will win more victories and crush the power of both churches, now the greatest barrier to united country called Ireland. Sadly if history has proven anything it is that organised religion, when well embedded within a nation, tends to be pretty difficult to shift, for better or worse.
