What lack of safety do you speak of? I'd love to know how you feel unsafe?

I was thinking recently that a PL game would surely be a prime target for terrorists- no security checks, hundreds of people sat in the blast radius, live on tv with the world watching. I'd imagine football represents much of what they're against as well. It's foolish to dismiss it- they already tried to get a bomb into the Stade De France, so football matches are on their radar.

smr Posted 17 August 2017 Posted 17 August 2017 Ive said this before but i'll say it again.. why dont we have airport type scanners at the turnstyles?

Probably to do with the time it would take to process everything. They need to find a better solution than doing **** all though.

So the police when monitoring crowds by surveillance camera, local police, undercover officers at games have no idea who they are looking for? It's as if you don't think the police have plans in place. The demographics of a football crowd are a lot smaller than a packed shopping centre.

How much do you think that would cost? 2. How many British stadiums have been bombed? But I'm with you - we should have compulsory strip searches, sniffer dogs, subcutaneous RFID chips, fingerprint scanners, thermal imaging cameras and have to submit to a full background data check prior to every match. It's the only common sense approach.
Wymsey Posted 18 August 2017 Posted 18 August 2017 It never crosses my mind, not that it should anyway, fearing for my safety going to the football ground and watching a game. Sharp items, explosives etc would be intercepted at the turnstiles etc. But it makes you think, with the big crowds of people outside the ground etc - anyone could be present with something dangerous that could impact on public safety as it'd be very difficult to check everyone's bag etc outside the ground as opposed to waiting to go through to their seats in the ground. Reckon there will be more specialist police present in the future, given the growing nature of public terror attacks recently..
Monsell1976 Posted 18 August 2017 Posted 18 August 2017 Checking the age band doesn't keep anyone safe, its sound like they don't want to lose money, on adults using under 18 tickets, under 22 etc, rather than safety. Adding to the debate about the threat of attacks at matches, how do we know the loonies don't already attend matches, work at grounds etc, it's not like they have a sign on the head, if they want to do it, they will, and it wouldn't be difficult, as proved at the match in Paris. Terriorist are what the name says, they want to cause people to fear, not attend, and live in the fear of terror, and disrupt every day life. If they think they can stop me from going down the city, they have another thing coming, live life, enjoy it, fear nothing.
ozvaldo Posted 18 August 2017 Posted 18 August 2017 I'm going to London straight after the game tomorrow so I'm bringing a bag with overnight stuff. Can I bring in things like aftershave in a glass bottle in and deodorant?

SystonFox Posted 18 August 2017 Posted 18 August 2017 In other news my mates often joke that I look like a Turkish IS sympathiser.... will I get a ticket for Liverpool at home?

Be afraid, be really shitting afraid.

red5 Posted 19 August 2017 Posted 19 August 2017 How did it go for family stand supporters? I saw queues on the way to the kop but got in no problems or security check.
lev72 Posted 20 August 2017 Posted 20 August 2017 There was one adult season ticket holder who was not allowed in, he told the stewards his wife and child were already in the ground but they were having none of it, poor bloke was close to tears. I questioned this to a steward as me and my lad were about to go in and the steward said you can't go in without a child, i said what about night matches when my lad can't make it as i work nights and go straight from game to work, i also mentioned that my lad plays for a team sunday afternoons so again does that mean i cant attend them games, all the steward would say was "you need to speak to the club" I know i can upgrade up to 4 times but how are they going to know I've upgraded when you need to activate the turnstile light to prove its an adult instead of a child. To be told you can't go in when your child is already in with his mother and not all together or your child has other commitments on Sundays is taking the piss. Could someone please advise me who i should speak to about this as i think going into the shop is going to get me anywhere, will you get a refund if your not allowed in?
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 20 August 2017 Posted 20 August 2017 Was it at certain turnstiles or all over the place randomly?
