It was all very political and there were a number of people/organisations that were quite rightly put to shame and held responsible for their their failings.

Now ask yourself why that decision had to be made using the evidence of your own eyes on the ample footage available at the time and since. Every person there with or without a ticket pushing has to share some culpability with the exception possibly of those nearer the front who were getting crushed as per the evidence. 

 

I'm sure many of us at that time and well before, have been in huge crowds at football grounds where the surge of the crowds could lift you off your feet. It happened and was unnerving at times. Some was due to overcrowding and some the actions of certain w*****s pushing and shoving. Those things happened, it's fact. That day at Hillsborough was no different in some ways and it was an accident waiting to happen if not there,  but potentially other grounds also.

 

I fully agree that all the people who were found wanting were rightly vilified for it. But, report or no report and as unbelievably sad and dreadful as it was, let's not make out football supporters were all innocents at the event. Neither is it because they were from Liverpool, it could have been other supporters elsewhere. It's easy sometimes to blame authorities and organisations and sometimes quite rightly to but, sometimes football supporters and members of the public have to take responsibility for their actions also.

QPR, who have probably about 12k supporters in the ground today, have a visible standing section. Leicester, with over 2 and a half times that amount in the stadium for each match, clearly don't have the demand for it.

Portsmouth adding around 3000 safe standing for away fans with discussions later at possible safe standing in the fratton end.

 

Talks about it from around 11 minute mark.

The incident with the lad almost falling to his death in SK1 during Forest at home should really have been the catalyst for a proper discussion on introducing Safe Standing in that section.

 

The reality is that the club internalised it as an excuse not to. We're going to be one of the last in the football league to adopt the practice. :dunno:

Was in SK1 for that and genuinely don’t recall that. Was it that bad?

Was stood right behind the lad, it WAS that bad. Only prompt action from a Steward saved him dropping about 20 feet.

Wow, I wasn’t aware of that. Was carnage in the section that day though. Absolutely loved it

Jesus. The club should make the most of SK1, especially the singing section, a safe standing area. The atmosphere would be even more booming there.
