Smaller Pitch

Recommended Posts

Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned? Unless I have missed it?

Pitch is definately smaller. A good couple of feet in width from the West Stand, so it can only mean it's a couple of feet shorter the other side too.

I used to sit right on the half way line, but now I am just sitting in one half, so the half way line has moved, so defiantly some changes.

I can only think based on our last two games that we are closing teams down very well and a smaller pitch will help us even more.

Not ITK but someone close to the club told me they'd moved the West stand a few feet to one side to stop the glare of the sun at half time for the owners

probably why it seems you have moved

I believe they actually moved the West stand closer to the Prince of Punjab so the 1000's of fans having their pint and curry for £6 before the match wouldn't have so far to go to the loos.

How dare you make my joke funnier

It was a lot darker in the stadium.  They've blocked off those translucent plastic back board bits behind the Kop and Family stand (from what I can see in J2).

Brighton were terrible, on another note.

Yeah I almost felt sorry for their fans. 2-nil down and still no incentive to get out their half.

Can already see the 'rooted to the bottom in November, new manager' cliche...

I may be wrong but I'm sure all pitches have to be the same size as wembley unless you ground is to small to fit it in

Pitches in the PL should be 105 m x 68m unless it is not physically possible to fit a field that size in the stadium.

Despite there being rules and guidelines on the size of football pitches used by clubs to play in the English Premier League games, several clubs do not meet the regulation size of 105 metres long and 68 metres wide.

The club with the smallest pitch in the Premier League (during the 2016-2017 season) is Tottenham Hotspur, whose home ground – White Hart Lane – has a pitch size of 100 metres x 68 metres. Perhaps that is understandable though as the club first moved to the ground in 1899.

In fact Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton and Liverpool also have pitches which don’t meet the required legal size required by the Premier League.

However, they don’t contravene Premier League regulations by abiding to the following five rules relating to football pitches in Premier League:

K.15. – Unless otherwise permitted by the Board, in League Matches the length of the pitch shall be 105 metres and its breadth 68 metres.

K.16. – The Board shall only give permission to a Club for the dimensions of its pitch to be other than as set out in Rule K.15 if it is impossible for it to comply with Rule K.15 due to the nature of the construction of its Stadium.

K.17. – A Club shall register the dimensions of its pitch before the commencement of each Season by giving written notice thereof in Form 8 to the Board.

K.18. – The Board may at any time require a Club to obtain and submit to the Board a report by an independent expert certifying its pitch dimensions.

K.19. – No Club shall alter the dimensions of its pitch during the Season without the prior written consent of the Board.

That's truly ridiculous. Our owners would simply have moved the sun.

I can confirm that the pitch is the same size  as last year and it is your  eyes that have grown a year older and bigger. This makes things look smaller than they are, even when they are exactly the same size as they've always been.

Its known as the "cream egg effect"

I thought it looked quite a lot smaller which I assumed was tactical to help with our closing down or trying to limit crosses coming into the box.

Or they are planning for life without Mahrez but reducing the width so we can just play through the middle.

Wider the pitch the better as it creates more space and a better aspect for our creative players.

No doubt it is an edict from upon high at EPL. They seem to be getting more and more like Formula One, always tinkering without applying any commonsense. If it 'ain't broken why fix it?

The blue carpet around the border of the stadium makes it feel more enclosed. The blue carpet is very nice though.

Just because the lines are further away your side, doesn't mean they aren't nearer on the opposite side.

Geometry, it's brilliant!
