Cincinnati Fox Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 I am sure that shakey wants to play 352 and the moves in the transfer window reflect this.
LCFC FOX Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 We'd need two CB's coming in for that to work in my opinion.

Kitchandro Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Surely we need to play 3-5-2 before we go into the transfer market? If anything, we should be looking to get a ball winner in the starting 11 so that we can still play 4-4-2 against better sides like we could when we had Kante. Until then we need to get more bodies in the middle. I'm not really a fan of this in the long term because you just end up with 2 substandard central midfielders protecting the back 4 rather than one quality one, and you need wing backs who will track back rather than out and out wingers whose job it is to make goals. I especially don't like it if it means sacrificing a striker in a 4-5-1. But 5 in the middle is what we need to do at the moment because otherwise we'll be overrun by the teams with stronger midfields.
lgfualol Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 We would need cover at RWB. Simpson couldn't play there to save his life.
ZeGuy Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Id' like to see it but we're light on WBs. Albrighton and Fuchs ain't enough.

I think Chilwell would be much better suited to LWB than LB tbf considering his major weakness is defending. No idea who'd cover at RWB if Albrighton got injured though we'd be ****ed. We'd probably have to play Amartey there or something, ick.

He still needs to improve his defending. Could do against the bottom but won't be enough against mid-table teams. let alone the like of Chelsea, etc.

Hanan96 Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 3-5-2 seems the reasonable option avaiable we have slimani, musa, vardy, okazaki, iheanacho as striker. total 5. not to count we still have ulloa. we only play in priemer league, means we play less games since we dont do at european, and cup level were secon fiddled. so those striker, especially slimani, vardy, and iheanacho will always wanted to be first team player. while aside iheanacho, seems nobody can play behind the striker as okazaki did. so, any formation aside from using 2 centre forward will damage our team morale badly. unfortunately, to play 4-4-2 , we don't have enough energy in the central midfield area. Kante is Gone. Ndidi is good replacement, howewer, more in the air rather than in the ground. drinkwater+ndidi looks good to replace kante alone, but we can't rely on these two forever. if opposition put 2 midfielder mark them closely, we got nobody to offer creativity from the middle. so base on reason above, we don't have a good team to sacrifying central forward for another position, while we dont have good midfielder quality to play 2 central midfielder alone. the problem with 3-5-2 is where will gray and mahrez play? play them as amc will brought back the 2 cm problem. while play them as striker will be just the same as sacrifying 1 center forward which could damaging our team morale. so, either bring enough energy in the center of the park, or work out with mahrez and gray ability to defend in the midfielder which seems unlikely

I think the point is that having 3 CBa helps you make up for having 2 CMs.
hatasi Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 something like: ----------------Kasper----------------- -----Simpson--Huth--Maguire----- Townsend-------------------Albrighton ------------Ndidi---Iborra?---------- ----------------Okazaki-------------- ----------Slimani-----Vardi--------- ?

Mullet1 Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 Unfortunately the only way we will use a 3-5-2 as the most common formation is if Mharez leaves
STUHILL Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 ---------------------Kasper-------------------- -----Sakho/Evans---Huth---Maguire------ Albrighton----------------------------Chilwell ------------------N'didi--Iborra--------------- ----------------------Mahrez------------------ --------------Slimani---------Vardy---------- I think Albrighton and Chilwell are tailor made to play as wing-backs in a 3-5-2. Both are decent defensively and so could offer good support to a back 3 but could also be very effective in attack with Slimani especially being able to benefit from crosses into the box. Mahrez given a free role behind the front 2 could help him shake team's attempts to double/triple up on him on the right side. With two sitting defensive CM's, having so many defensive CM's in the squad would finally make more sense. Iheanacho would be capable of playing in the Mahrez or striker's role.

He's got it in him just needs some consistency. Game time would help..

Might not work against the big boys but let's be honest, it's not like we are beating them anyways.
Wdywd Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 Far too many teams play 3-5-2 as it is, I'm against it. **** me if we sell Mahrez and bring Andros Townsend in at wing back 1 step closer to Shakey's dream of turning us into West Brom

I agree - although I thought Wes acquitted himself well against ManU. I just can't see Shakey doing it, worryingly even following the return to match fitness of Huth.
