Small beer too compared to flogging the oil and gas to private funds compared to going the Norwegian route with a wealth fund.

PFI was dreadful too.

Well neither.  I was commenting on the fact you were crying about folks calling one MP a nickname whilst going on to call another MP a nickname in the same post. Which clearly went straight over your head.

Well, not really.

As I explained.

But it clearly went straight over your head.

So nicknames are OK for some but not others? Two-tier logic.

Horrified by what Reeves is doing, get rid Kier, she is utterly classless and clueless.
The OBR projections and associated damage to the less well, off whilst hiking interest rates to get your money from the rich is beyond reprehensible.

There's not a cat in hells chance their building reforms will lead to 1.5m new homes

I noticed she's already revised to 1.3m - I'd be amazed if they reach 1m.

They won't get above 2% growth in any financial year.

Also these welfare reform are totally reprehensible particularly when they're being instigated by a total dodgy ligger trying to purely balance the books rather than having an appreciation of the human and financial cost.

She is vile, completely clueless and dare I say the worse Chancellor we've ever had or likely to ever have - truly atrocious.

Particularly as its Angela Rayner making a mess of the housing sector, how is RR getting the blame for that shambles?

We should make overtures to China, and let their cheap EVs enter the country. Of course in exchange we'd need to make sure they put pressure on Russia to stop their aggression (and China may not want to do that). The existing auto industry here is already doomed in a tariff war, so time to think radically.

As much as their political system is disagreeable to our own ideas, they are the only major power taking the long game anywhere close to as seriously as needed, so collaboration with them on at least some things is a matter of necessity.

With regards to the long game didn’t I read the other day that the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions were at their lowest since the 1870s, whilst China’s hit an all time high in the same year 🤷‍♂️

Yes the likes of China & US are pumping more funding into going green but they also have the most to convert, China is still heavily reliant on fossil fuels.

Their emissions will start to drop due to this heavy investment in greener energy but they are still way out in front in the world’s polluters.

Agreed they are certainly showing the US & Russia up but still the UK is the only ‘super power’ in the top 10 of countries reducing its emissions near quick enough.

I’d like to believe that China is trying to flood the market with EVs to aid the wider good but the sceptic in me still believes it’s about the 💵 & bragging rights sadly.

In terms of territorial emissions (that is to say, emissions on the soil of a country and not those that are serving the purpose of another country, eg. exports), this is correct.

But also as you say, they are going greener at a much faster rate than the other big nations, so they are on the right track.

I'd certainly agree that the UK are doing better than most on this matter, and they should be looking to ally with nations working to the same aim - as China are, and as the US and Russia (currently) are not.

It's likely that the moves in the EV market are mostly about the financial gain and prestige, but tbh on this one for me it's not about how the thing gets done, it's that it gets done, because not doing it is more costly than any other outcome.

BBC and Sky Sports websites should have a filter to remove stories about Womens Cricket, Football and Rugby.

Don't want to see it, should be able to hide it.

Their agenda is pretty intense at the moment and it's doing my head in.

I thought the thread was titled ‘Unpopular Opinions’

If that applies, they should also have a filter for all such sport subdivisions, in the interest of fairness.
