He was rubbish at Man U ... hope this isn’t an indication of things to come ffs

Even if he rarely started a game for us, his presence in the dressing room etc would be brilliant :) especially for our youngsters, he’s a legend :)

Just looked at Chicago's website, he is currently weighing up his options but his first season there worked out well for both parties. Could he be looking to do what Beckham did in Italy and France and play for someone else in the (U.S) off-season? Perhaps he's doing his coaching badges, it seems too random a location to be just an offer to train with us in their off-season. If Silva wasn't happening it could make sense but with his injuries and likely salary it seems one too many even if we change shape. Having said all of that it could just be one of the new backroom staff having an uncanny resemblence to him! If it is him and he is coming to play then I presume he can't register until the window and would be available for his debut the same time as Silva (Chelsea away?)

Top class midfielders, you wait all winter for one then two turn up at the same time!

No brainer surely, we're not paying his wages. I'm sure the club can afford them.

Many of our midfielders lack top class experience. He, Iborra and Silva will be brilliant for the likes of Ndidi, Amartey and James.

As long as we understand that he's not going to play 90 minutes every game, I think he'd be a good addition to the squad.

Potentially he's a future member of our coaching staff too.

He won everything bar the Euro. Great professional, gives everything and never moans. There are few like him nowadays and even if he's not at his best anymore, he's still miles ahead of King or Amartey in the midfield. Get him in.

Interesting if true. And gone straight in to solidify the midfield.

World Cup Winner, Euros Runner Up, Bundesliga Winner X9, Champions League Winner - and people are turning up their noses?

FT is mainly made up of children, bandwagonners, and people who have been here throughout all the ups and downs. You can quite easily tell one from another by their reaction in a thread like this one.

Let’s sign pele and maradona

Watched him in the Chicago playoff game they lost 4-0 to New York a few days ago. Looked off the pace and faded badly in that game. His legs are gone. Doubt he would be of any use to us, unless we just want him for cover until January.

No. Well past it. I don't really see what his list of achievements have to do with how good he is now. Might as well sign Bobby Charlton.

Was Cambiasso a bad signing then?

I think Col would be a better man to ask than me. He's far more knowledgeable on the subject.
