I think we'll put on a better show in the ODI's than the tests. Feel for the fans that have shelled out thousands to go over and watch this shambles.

Gulf in class is huge, Vince, Stoneman, Curran, Ali all way out of their depth.

It's not being wise after the event to say that this was exactly how most watchers saw things before they went there - too many average county players badly led and managed - so long as the Australians didn't self destruct they couldn't lose .

This is about the size of it - and England without likely their most inspirational player too.

Root is going to come in for some barracking for this from some quarters...but tbh though he's made a few mistakes I think a lot of this tour has been him trying to make the best he can with a team that were man for man not performing as well as the Aussies, and when they did, lost the small battles.

Jimmy Anderson deserves a special mention in this test.

He bowled 34 overs in the Australian innings and concedes just 56 runs, incredible economy rate on this pitch, shame he doesn't have the back up.

Root currently in hospital with severe dehydration.

Sums up the whole farce of the tour I suppose.

That'll be the end of Ali in the test side for a while with any luck.

Not the only one as Matt mentioned.

Very few upto standard. He was never a spin bowler, but I’m struggling to think of any answers that can really hold that position,he isn’t the answer.

Frustrating that for a man who has broken records for batting and bowling and can look class over the he past few years has been found out so easily.

However That tour has told the test world what to do to him.

im afraid ( and I was a huge fan) he will never get those wickets or runs like the last few years as people will just do what the Aussies did.

i could go down the team, he is one of about 5 and I have no answers.

Rotton from top to bottom at the moment.

The statistics really do show how bad it was.

Postives:

Jimmy Anderson, on those pitches to take 17 wickets @27 with an ER of 2.11 is a pretty incredible, superb bowling, we are going to miss him when he has gone. Genuine World Class and the best around.

Dawid Malan, average of 42.55 batting at 6 in a team where people kept falling around him.

Craig Overton, aside from Jimmy our best bowler, his injury was a blow as Curran isn't a fourth seamer in English conditions let alone Australian ones.

Negatives:

Moeen Ali must have had the worst five match tour in cricketing history, an average of 19 with the bat and 115 with the ball lol - How he played in every match will baffle people who look back at it, he's in trouble now, he won't be seeing many more balls full or on a length for the rest of his career.

Stoneman and Vince, supposed top 3 batsmen and neither averaged over 30, the latter being dismissed in the same way every time was almost comical. Formr never the same after that sesson where they worked him over.

The whole tour was a farce from start to finish, from Stokes to the booze ups to the selection to the excuses, fitting it ended with the Captain (he's the worst tactical captain I've ever seen as well and we are stuck with him) asleep as we lost. Hardly over the trenches stuff to say the least.

Another pretty incredible stat, first time in test match history all the wickets for one team were taken by just four bowlers in a five match series.

To think my mate who is half Australian, but always supports England passionately.Went for Melbourne and Sydney and was unfortunately staying with relatives.

Now that is heartbreaking.

He will never be the same man again!

All of this on board, a little perspective here: The Aussies haven't won a series in England in almost two decades either.

Home advantage seems to be counting for more and more in the Test arena these days.

It's the way we are losing out there which is more of a problem.

5-0, 5-0 and 4-0 in 3 of the last 4 series. Totally unacceptable.

Exactly. Somebody said we had problems but atleast we've won away from home in the last 15years. I would rather be doing what they do and run us fairly close here, than win once over there and get completely and utterly battered the rest.

Hopefully England will give some younger players a go soon, Jofra Archer has looked brilliant in the big bash so far and can bowl over 90mph. Think he can play for England now too

2022 under the residency laws and that's crazy as his Dad is English, if that's the case I see no reason why he should have to wait at all.

Think that too tbh, I keep hearing conflicting things tbh saying he can then he can't, surprising since as you said he's got an English dad, hopefully something will be sorted so he can play for us sooner since he's pretty talented from what I've seen and that caught and bowled today in the big bash was pretty good imo.

Hopefully with the tests in New Zealand some new bowlers will be given a go, doubt it though.
