Broad getting it to jag back back early doors so it's, er, great to see him resorting to digging it in short for no good reason...

Normal service resumed. Really unprofessional hour from England.

Need to start thinking, Jimmy gifts his wicket, then the bowling is basically non threatening. So frustrating.

Well, at least the rain pretty much removed the whitewash from the equation. We need to get them all out by tea (or at the very latest a few overs after) to have time to chase down anything they set us, though.

Could end up a bit of a slog this, hope it does, wouldn't want to chase anything above a run a ball though on a two-paced pitch with test match rules though.

Looks like we're more bothered about saving runs than getting wickets.

Not so sure.

I reckon they're trying but this is just the worst wicket to bowl on imaginable.

I reckon I could bat on this against our attack with two chopsticks sellotaped together.

Pisses me off when people say "why are people falling out of love with Test cricket?!" and then allow pitches like that.

Draw from the moment the first ball was bowled.

If ever there was a match when we should have tried something different for a day 5 pitch that was is.

Just Crane for Ali in Sydney I'd imagine.

Just watched Nasser Hussain talking to Charles Coalville on Sky about his time as England captain during Ashes series.

What a fascinating insight and Nasser has gone up in my estimation after that.

Nass was a massive influence on England improving. Beating the West Indies in 2000 was a huge result, it probably doesn't look as impressive given their decline since but that was a major victory. Then going to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the next winter and winning both series was a tremendous achievement.

I remember the last time we chucked in a young spinner vs Australia in a dead rubber. I don't remember his name though. Risky business is this

Was Borthwick out there, Kerrigan at The Oval, Borthwick didn't do too bad.

Crane should been in long before though given he was in the original squad.

Decision making all over the shop again, if ever there was a time to put a nightwatchman in that was it.

Cannot think of many other test nations that would send a top quality batsman out with 2 sodding overs to go.

Who makes that decision?

According to Malan they leave it up to the player, ridiculous.

Well at least one good thing to come out of this tour has been Dawid Malan's batting. Shown a fantastic temperament and aptitude.

Been brilliant, makes you wonder how the selectors missed him for so long.
