One thing that pisses me off about Mahrez more than most... his direct free kicks.

Woeful.

He should just smash it, like he should with his penalties too.

Just knew that he'd miss the penalty against Man City in the cup.

He really doesn't.

The rest of his game may be streets ahead but Mahrez is first touch is outrageous.

You must be joking right now. There is no part of Riyads game that is better than Neymars. Especially first touch. Mahrez can bring down a ball very well but not like Neymar.

Please tell me when Mahrez did anything like this? @Finnegan

Look at 1:53 when in the pissing pooring rain on a wet night in Leicester, Riyad takes a smashed ball from Fuchs down with one touch to play in Vardy for 3-0.

Please tell me when Neymar did anything like this? (Skills and Celebration lol)

Regularly?

Behave. Most players are capable of taking down 50 yard passes, Mahrez is brilliant at it but to say he is better than Neymar is just lying to yourself

1m 30 in - first video on google of Mahrez compilation that came up. He makes the ball stop or controls it like this week in and out - kids much watch and just think the ball just stops at ones feet ready to kick in the goal...

I havent seen a better first touch than Mahrez bringing a long ball down in the prem,, like it stops dead 99% of the time no bounce like a feather.

Probs happens with others just havent noticed it tbf cause dont watch every game and other teams that often.

If you think Mahrez is better at skills or dribbling or has a better first touch than Neymar then we will have to agree to disagree I’m afraid

First touch that’s the only thing we are talking about here.

Why are people showing skills compilations and the goal vs Man City then? Mahrez is amazing and one of the best in the PL but not at Neymars level in any part of him game, for every video of Mahrez doing a brilliant first touch there’s many more for Neymar.

I'm with you. I just don't think you can underestimate how good his first touch is. Game after game during the title winning season, Kasper, Huth or Morgan would smash the ball 60 yards up field with pace, swerving / curling or with the wind behind it, often when it was raining and this guy literally plucks it down from the sky like it was played to him from 2 yards away. All this whilst on the move, with his back to goal and with players around him. Just try and do that yourself in a casual practice environment and see how tricky it is. Sometimes he does it and none of the home fans even react because we see it so often! But honestly it's insane to be able to do that so consistently.

You will find way more evidence of Neymar having a better first touch on YouTube. Take off your blue tinted specs and realise that however good Riyad is at bringing the ball down Neymar is better.

Getting emotional watching that, please don't go. Love the fact that in that highlight reel it had him slamming a penalty in the bottom corner, and handing over the ball to Vardy for that pen on his run.

This is why I say we are spoiled and when he leaves it will be hard to get a replacement of his level unless we spend like the big clubs do.

Mahrez isn't much of a dribbler, he really has one skill move which he has perfected, and it is the Cryuff turn, also known as the Mahrez chop

His ball control, agility and long/finesse shots are beautiful though

Yeah, come to think of it he's rubbish...

Which pass is easier to take down? A sumptuous cross-field ball from Andres "the greatest ever central Spanish midfielder to play the game" Iniesta or a ferocious punt from Robert "the last free kick I took is still in orbit around the KP" Huth? The weather in Barcelona is also often quite a bit better than in Leicester. (Shocking I know!)

No one is disputing Neymar is the overall better player, but when it comes to first touch there can't be many in the world better than our Riyad.
