He lashed out at the press after the club went back on its word to him regarding a transfer. He was not getting in the squad and was watching his career suddenly waste away. Sure, he's collecting a nice salary but these guys are paid to play. Had the club not gone back on what he was told, we wouldn't have heard a peep from him last year.

Leo is a well-liked player who seems to approach his training and role at the club very professionally-- on top of his contributions during the title-winning season, he was a big part of helping Cambiasso get acclimated to England and has done the same for Iborra. He's clearly a guy who is willing to do the not-so-glamorous work behind the scenes to help his teammates' and his club's success. He's been a good soldier for the cause.

We'd have been mad to sell him to Sunderland and he should have understood that.

It’s still not loyal though is it, you can dress it up however you like that incident is the opposite of loyal.

Hey player, we brought in a £28M replacement, you are now redundant but you can't leave. Hey player, your replacement is away and you can't leave. Hey player, your replacement is now injured so you can't leave. Hey player, we're afraid you'd make the bottom club in the league better than us, the champions of England, so you can't leave. What's that player, you're trying to burn the bridge with us so we'll sell you, nope, you aren't going.

"Loyalty" more like being the ultimate convenience.

All of these qualifiers were added after the agreement and somehow Ulloa is in the wrong. Not sure how that works.

Anyone would think that Ulloa wasn't paid the money that his exorbitant contract was paying him - without even playing.

@The_77 Where were the loyalty types when someone said he wanted a move and spent deadline day in an airport?

Laughing at him and hoping it turned out exactly how it has.

You?

Would prefer he stayed but unwilling to take part in the worrying, desperate pleas, and all around drama around him.

No drama here. He's come back into form and hopefully added another 20 mil. If we can hold him til the summer I reckon we could get a couple of zillion for him with current premier league inflation.

(I'd still swap ulloah and musa for half a tin of paint and a left glove though rather than keep them ?)

Probably send iheanacho out on loan to league one to see if we can improve his current value.

Please tell me this is a joke? He’s not been as good as we thought he would of been but League One?

That’s one of the most ridiculous comments I’ve seen in a long time.

A qualifier or common sense?

He's in the wrong because he should understand why we wouldn't let him leave for Sunderland and then said he'd never play for the club again.

Overstepped the mark.

not as silly as the one claiming league one is ulloa's level.

I’d like to see what Leo can still do.  He is less than two years removed from being a significant clutch contributor to the PL winning side.  Villa remain a big enough platform, if they give him some of the focus and he produces.

If he does, we can sell.  If not, the book is closed at a loss, and we move on.

Better than reserving him for a late sub “kill time in the corner” role two or three more times this season.

Why so eager to ship out Leo? We have Slimani,  Iheanacho and Musa doing nothing.

Madness. There’s no way Iheanacho can cope at that level.

Joke, tongue in cheek at least.

I'm not one to write a player off this early, hence a loan (ok, maybe not league one) but I have never been this disappointed in a players basic footballing ability before.

We'e signed players in the past  who have disappointed, but this one looks like a trade description violation.

This was the most exciting signing we have possibly ever made. Young, on the up, appeared to beat other proper teams to his signature. He certainly aint the player I thought we were buying and west ham must think they've dodged a bullet.

Bruce has come out today and said 'we've done very well with loan negotiations, we're very close on one'

So possible Ulloa announcement today?

the main attribute for a goal scorer.

When we're as bad as we are at defending set pieces, a goal saved is a goal scored. Put Leo on the 6 yard box and we'll save some goals.
