My dad wrote a porno is tremendous

If your own Dad did that, how could you not make a podcast out of it?

I think writing creatively is actually pretty difficult, and when I listen to this I do occasionally experience an irrational fear that if I were to write a porno, it might not be that different from Rocky's efforts.

It's not a project I've got on at the minute though

Series 6 is finished, I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped, but Liza grew on me and I though Asim was brilliant!

Next series competitors confirmed as:

James Acaster, Jessica Knappett, Phil Wang, Kerry Godliman, Rhod Gilbert

No idea who Jessica Knappett is but I'm really excited about the rest of the lineup, especially Phil Wang and Rhod Gilbert!

Got lots of these to watch, but I'm not rushing back to it each week because it's a poor series. I'll finish it off after the World Cup.

Yeah next seasons line up seems remarkably better than this latest one.

Looking forward to all of them. Jessica Knappett was in The Inbetweeners Movie I think.

Excellent, Acaster was on Ultimate Worrier recently and was very funny. I like Kerry Godliman and Rhod will add another dynamic.

This series has been utter shit so it's nice to see the next line-up is decent

I think I'd watch literally anything if Acaster is on it.

I've seen him six times over three tours and genuinely never tire of him delivering the same material, the way he puts it out is ridiculous.

Seen Phil Wang a couple of times in all and he's just as good if not better than Acaster for me, hilarious.

Agree on the Acaster shouts, gutted I missed him at the cookie. Tickets were very reasonable as well

Spoiler?

The Americans saying “Loughborough” bit destroyed me as I’d thought the same thing the week I watched it on Netflix

What I've learned from the first episode of the new series:

Rhod Gilbert and Phil Wang will make this series one of the best yet.

Kerry Godliman will surprise me and be very funny, much like Liza Tarbuck did in the last series.

I didn't know much about James Acaster before watching this series so I watched a load of YouTube clips and TV shows he's been in and think he's been brilliant in this first episode.

Jessica Knappett is just irritating.

Great first episode, this line-up has so much potential.

Looking forward to seeing James Acaster live next week

Didn't even finish the last series, just couldn't get into it. Is this one looking more promising?

Line up is infinitely better. Rhod Gilbert, Phil Wang and James Acaster are all cracking

I highly recommend Repertoire mini-series by James Acaster on Netflix.

Great start, already better than the last series which was probably the weakest of the lot.

James Acaster is my absolute favourite. I can't tell if he's playing it for laughs or he genuinely just has an odd way of looking at things. Any of you who have heard his 'classic scrapes' would probably suggest it's the latter. I'll second Stan's recommendation for his stand-ups on Netflix - absolutely superb.

Kerry Godliman playing it more or less straight trying to do well at the tasks suits her I think. Her quick change was actually impressive.

Phil Wang and Rhod Gilbert look like they're going to enjoy a bit of sniping at each other this season, with Rhod playing the 'old pro' role pretty well. Phil's outfit had me howling.

Jessica Knappet seems quite likeable, but a little bit shit at the actual tasks. Hope she can provide a funnier role than just 'oops I didn't do very well', but there's plenty of episodes left.

You can tell it's a good episode when you want to watch another immediately after!

Didn't bother watching any of last series because of the line up. First episode last night was great, the second episode even better.

Given the line up I've been a bit underwhelmed with this series so far, to be honest. It's fine, has its moments and is way better than the last but the first three (maybe even first four) series were absolute gold.

I think those first 3 were still living off the novelty of the show. But this series is rescuing it after the travesty of the last!

I think the problem is people know the format and they know that people like the silly one who gets it wrong and James Acaster, who I feel is quite intelligent, has twice failed to understand basic tasks, build a tower and draw a big circle, as well as the belt prize task and the fruit hat live task.

Wang is also being inexplicably dense too considering he has an engineering degree from Cambridge.

It is at its funniest when people are being natural and not trying to be funny, because they are all naturally funny and don’t need to try.

I also think th scope of tasks has been poor in the last two series, build a box tower, draw a circle, measure a caravan with a tin of beans. The best task from the first 2 episodes was the quick change task, again Acaster got it wrong, but the scope meant people could be silly, funny or creative whilst still trying to win the task.
