Talking about Tollgate has anyone been to the milking parlour? That’s pretty good especially in spring/summer. You can walk there from Calke Abbey too.

Went there with my old man brother but it was freezing when we did, can imagine they make a killing when the weather gets nicer, great space up there

Seemingly a new bar opening in Leicester soon on Hotel Street called Sommar Tap Room. Hopefully not too pricey but claiming to have 20 beers on tap

Will give it a chance but when they are calling themselves a 'pub' which it looks anything but one, we shall see. Nice however to see drinking establishments actually opening up in Leicester.

Yeah me and the Mrs went during the freezing weather. Something about drinking a pint in the miserable cold next to a disused trough didn't appeal. I think if the sun was beating down I might well have absolutely loved it, though.

A nice gamble they've taken doing a boozer in that situation and I admire their confidence in it.

Brew in Ashby is a lovely, if limited, space for boozing.

Brew? Owner's a nice chap.

I was in there on Sunday having a few and listening to the live music. Very pleasant evening.

No, Milking Parlour

Quite like a winter walk with the dog and then a beer in front of the fire. Obviously it's excellent in Summer but does get busy.

Ahhh I see.

Yeah I can see the appeal for some folk but it wasn't for me in the winter. They're confident, though, I'll give them that. Refreshing to see a new boozer crop up, especially in an unlikely locale.

How I didn't get you were responding to me about Milking Parlour I don't know. I'm a moron.

Have one in Molly O'Grady's or the Goose. Or even Squares, all nearby.

The former is upwards of £5 a Guinness, I don't think there'd be a saving to be made there!

Sure squares used to do £1 pints about 7/8 years ago. Incredible effort

Got a Friday night crawl planned for a few weeks time, 'old man pub' types.

Black Horse, Cherry Tree, Royal Oak, Bridle Lane Tavern, Royal Standard and the Ale Wagon.

Heard that it's been done up very well.

It's not really been done up! But it's a near miracle it's still going. I have been in after Riders. You'd be lucky if there are five people in there. The lad running it is trying his hardest after the carribean food place left and he does look after you.
