I am very bald but I would not consider myself loud (and also I wasn’t there) lol

Sorry - shit post, I apologise. Credit to you for not rising to it.

Agree about the TTL being a bit meh now, haven’t felt compelled to go there for a long while. Real Ale classroom being a 2 minute walk and Queens Road Tap being 10 minutes away don’t help mind

Another one who agrees on TTL. Hope that the couple going may return post maternity/paternity but that said the efforts made by the bar staff much better than in August when Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah was playing in there.

I give an example about their beer. They had a Deya waiting to be put on. Nearly everyone who came in asked about the Deya, when’s it coming on? It came on just I was leaving. I went in the day after, every beer was the same except the Deya. Sold out. Perfect answer there.

agree on some of the sentiments with the Blue Boar too. Not a massive fan of QRT when I went recently. Although the beer that the new pizza place on Clarendon Park Road is doing looked as good as anywhere in the city

Is the DMU micro pub the Castle ever reopening? Also Framework need to make lager/helles/pilsner rather than tweaking the exact the same thing over and over again.

In the local area (Hinckley) on Saturday I went to The Queen's Head for a few. Lovely beers on tap there. 4 rotating ales. I had the Citra first and then Ghost Ship which was new on. Very well kept and tapped beer.

The pub is a real classic one (with its decor etc.). One of the few without being an absolute dump. Although £3.90 for an ale seems steep for Hinckley! Hinckley in general seems to be overpriced.

In Loughborough on Sunday for a roast dinner on the Great Central Railway. Been to Wheeltapper and the Organ Grinder before, but anywhere else worth popping in for decent ale?

Heard a lot of good things about the needle and pin but still yet to visit myself

White Hart is quite nice, I reckon Quorn is better for proper pubs though if you're not restricted to Loughborough?

Think our tickets entitle us to hop and and off GCR trains as we please all day, so guess we could detour to Quorn? Will see how we're doing for time.

Brilliant, well the Manor is right next to the Quorn GCR station, well worth nipping in there at least

Swan In the Rushes is a decent "proper pub" and Castle Rock owned mate - couple of doors down from The Needle + Pin which is a lovely little gaff.

If you nip in the White Hart, The Windmill is just around the corner, not quite as polished as the WH but an interesting building and another pub pub.

Organ Grinder is Susan Perb. Wheeltapper baffles me, I find the actual place / bar a bit lacking and your man that runs it is almost hilariously not an after dinner speaker but the beer quality in there is as good as you'll find in the county, so well kept and always something interesting on. He's got me right where he wants me baby!

There's a little micro pub / brewery called Moonface a stone's throw from them pair, couple that run it are dead nice but on a Sunday it can be quiet and there's no music, bit more suitable for a solo pint maybe.

Ta mate, know what you mean about Wheeltapper. As you say though, who cares when the beer's that decent?

Missus has been dragged to enough micropubs in our time so vibe not a problem. :D

Was too piss-wet to do a crawl round Loughborough so just ended up by the fire in the Organ Grinder for a few hours, watching the rain go by sideways outside. The Guerrilla chocolate amaretto stout was a drop I'm reasonably sure @Miquel The Work Geordie would class as Susan, though I preferred the chocolate orange one they did a while back (name escapes me).

Have you tried the Tollgate Porangeter?

I like Tollgate beers, wish Leicester's pubs would do a better job of having local beers in. Bryter Moon deli do more to propagate the county's finest wares than any of the boozers do. Tollgate, Charnwood, Round Corner, Braybrooke & Oakham Ales all produce varying degrees of good beer.

Talking about Tollgate has anyone been to the milking parlour? That’s pretty good especially in spring/summer. You can walk there from Calke Abbey too.

The amaretto one is a frankly ridiculous drink mate, I love it.

Currently in Tapping the Admiral, quickly becoming one of my favourite London boozers, £4 cask in a proper beautiful lived in pub.
