Hopefully they still get a good trade tonight.

I think it will be a struggle. A lot of people will not be leaving their houses for the next 10 days to ensure best chance of Christmas with family.

On top of that, raising interest rates announced today will start to get people to save money rather than spend it soon. And rates are only going to rise over the next few years. Very tough period for hospitality.

Just been for a couple at The White Bear at Hinckley, decent selection of beers. however wasn’t a fan of paying £5.90 for beavertown gamma ray

The prices are ridiculous in there, good beer selection but they need to be reminded what location they are in.

Mad how expensive it is, especially when it's not exactly in a easy to get to area of town. Never been a fan of that one however

If by 'Old man's pubs' you mean traditional pubs with a decent bitter selection then

try the Kings on King Street

The Ale Wagon is the best "proper pub" in Leicester by a chasm, not even bloody close.

Stick the Cherry Tree in Leeds, Sheff, Manchester, even Derby or Notts and it would be ****ing brilliant. As it is, not too arsed. It's in a great spot too.

It can't just be me that isn't too keen on the King's either? It's just a bit...boring? I know it's a Black Country house so they're tied with a few but the beers don't seem to have changed since before bloody COVID and the place just feels really hot all the time and devoid of any life?

Going back to the office in Notts you realise the dearth of pubs in Leicester, much as I love it. Not just volume either, actual brilliant, quality boozers.

I don't think Leicester is particularly helped by the fact Everard's and it's pubs are *****ing boring* compared to what Castle Rock do with their gaffs in Nottingham (and beyond) which are to a man outstanding and push heaps of guest cask + keg instead of just their own output (which is better than Everard's regardless). I don't want to go in pub after pub after pub that's been painted battleship grey drinking the same shite pint of Tiger.

I should say it's a shame the West End Brewery and the Queen's Road Tap (throw Babelas in there n all) are Out The Way. All great.

Two Tailed Lion needs a shake up.

The lease is up in Babalas in July and the guy in there wants out.

TTL felt really exciting but now fairly flat.

Whats wrong with a pint of Ev.Tiger..?

A few years ago, Always laughing outsiders & some locals who put it down...Then After only a few pints finished their evening

staggering  between the doors on the way out...Amusingly, instead of going elsewhere, came back Regularly & ordered....A Tiger,

Either on their pub crawl, or as their One Stop off..

Maybe over the years a pint of Tiger, & any  Everards have dropped down in name & quality, I havent resided around the shire for many a year.:dunno:

In my Earlier beer pathfinding years, trying all the North & South   could offer, Northern needs spread across the peaks, lakes, Fens of UK ,& Ireland Cascading around the Southern hidden hideaways of Director/Fullers country...Many a Good Pint found...A pint of Tiger still Held more than its own...

Though in This modern-generation...to be fair some craft beers,micro-breweries faire UK & abroad have Upped the level somewhat, even to an older generation traditionalist. My last Tiger was 10 years ago, I still enjoyed it...

Be a massive shame if it changes. Something very effortless about the entire place and their cask is always really well kept. Always preferred it to Bar Dos and the Clarendon is essentially an O'Neills now but the bar staff wear braces. QRT excellent though, and very well priced, £3.25 for one of their bevs the last time I went.

Yeah brother I think that change of hands has properly told, the staff are still brilliant and friendly but the choice is just uninspiring or ****ing daft, if you have one dark beer on don't make it 14%. The Blue Boar is better for choice and I always have a good pint in there but I rarely enjoy the actual *experience* of drinking in there.

It's all subjective but I've never enjoyed it!

On the Castle Rock note v Everard's @SemperEadem I'm sure you've been The New Barrack Tav up your way? They never bloody miss

Best pub in the postcode mate. Cracking little area out the back, was there last night.

Agree about the TTL being a bit meh now, haven’t felt compelled to go there for a long while. Real Ale classroom being a 2 minute walk and Queens Road Tap being 10 minutes away don’t help mind
