Man in a box at the Cheshire cheese followed by a trio of new visits

The Dolphin Tavern in Holborn is absolutely some of Miquels, what a glorious gaff that is by the way

The Perseverance up the road was alright and serviceable

The Duke is another stunner inside, two roomed with a central bar TALK TO ME

The Dolphin and Duke are both beautiful pubs. Considering it's quite an upmarket area there's some good old school pubs round there - the Boot, Skinners, the John Russel, Mabels, McGlynns (permanently closed now I think). Good mix of students, tourists and locals. Nothing spectacular beer wise though.

Yeah brother I've explored Kings Cross (Skinners is class and McGlynns closing is a national embarrassment, a genuinely goated gaff - Queens Head phenomenal n all) but never this bit in Holborn which I always assumed was (aside from Sam Smiths) either Greene King / shit post-work Moretti style places, did some digging and there's some stunners - like you said nothing too exotic beer wise but I'll have a well kept Landlord in a stunner of a gaff over 11 lines of nonsense

Just a handful nearish work mert, one I reckon is gonna be a bit gastro-y but The Dolphin in Holborn, Lady Ottoline, The Duke and if I've got time Perseverance, could cast a net over them. Few more round there n all but those are the ones I'll be ticking off on Friday

Those are all within 2 minutes of me - The Duke is definitely the pick of the bunch. On top of the ones mentioned, Queens Larder on Queen Square is worth a look and The Rugby Tavern is massively improved now they've got new people running it. (Perseverance does a very good pizza if you can get a table).

Was very impressed with the Duke mate, best staff of the bunch too which always stays in the mind. Quite busy with drinkers too for a weekday lunchtime considering its (a bit) off the main drag. One I'd properly recommend

Just had the most exclusive beer on tap I've ever had and it was brewed over the fields from my house...

Anyone who like Belgian, Dutch, trappist beers need to seek it out

THREE RULES collaboration between Leicestershire's own trappist brewery and La Trappe and Zundert in Netherlands.

7.4% of absolute beauty.

Went to the Quorndon Fox earlier for the first time.

Thought it was a bit pricey, but had a good atmosphere.

It’s a nice building and has a good outside area! Unfortunately it’s run by M&B though, who don’t run good pubs. If you’re in Quorn again I’d try the Royal Oak or Blacksmiths

The collaboration with Round Corner was incredible. Only managed to have a pint of

it in the Cock & Hoop in Notts but I’ve been pining for it since.

Is it the Réunion?

If so it's on tap in the rock.

Pricey as ****

As far as I'm aware the rock in whitwick and potentially the blue boar are the only places to get this on draft.

A bottle is £25....

Place I'm staying at this week has help yourself Cruzcampo taps everywhere so I'm getting stuck into that this afternoon. It's not too bad tbh, nicer than the ones I've had at home.

A Round Corner Frisby lager in The Castle (first time in there - good gaff) followed by a pint of the Blue Boar's own ale. Both places rammed post-match, great to see given the shite weather and worse football.

Went to Everards Meadows for an early Christmas meal with friends last night. Had a pint of their Cast No Shadow Nitro Stout.

Loved it, incredibly smooth but unfortunately had to limit myself to just the one as I was driving.
