Bobby Hundreds Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 The decision to play Bairstow hasn’t done us any favours at all. This is going to be unbelievably tight, let’s hope India stick to form in chasing these sized totals.
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 well that's a good start for England. Snorter from Broad keeping low. Too much for Rahul.
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 2 down now. Kohli's shoulders feeling the weight again...
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Very close call that with LBW appeal on Kohli. I think bat has just brushed ball and pad, hence the tiny spikes on ultra-edge.
Voll Blau Posted 2 September 2018 Author Posted 2 September 2018 England must be seething at that review decision.
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Can't see us getting 200 more runs, let alone 100-150 more maybe. Pathetic and embarrassing again not being able to complete a 4th innings chase. There's only so many times we can rely on reviews not working out.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Kohli didn’t hit that. Lol We certainly shouldn’t have lost the review at the very least.
ealingfox Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Was 100% out. Very unlucky for England that.
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Untouchable Kohli remains untouchable. Great call from Dharmasena...

marko Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Not even Joel Wilson can find away to give that not out!
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Kohli out. Gonna be a big effort to get this chase done now. Big moment for Pant/Pandya coming up...
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 in fact I can see Ali ripping through the rest of the team like he did first innings...
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 cameo from Pant done. Didn't mind him doing that but perhaps not so frequently. Maybe one big shot an over was good enough, if that. Got carried away. Congratulations on the series win, England!
Izzy Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Whatever the outcome, it’s been another enthralling test match. I heard on the radio yesterday that over in India recently they interviewed 15 of the next ‘up and coming’ superstars and asked them all individually “If you could ONLY play Test Cricket or the IPL, what would you choose?” Apparently to a man they ALL answered test cricket. The purest form the game.
StanSP Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Well done to England and all fans on here. So much is made of the top-order collapses (which is still a big thing) but when you have all-rounders like Buttler, Stokes, Curran (!), Ali it almost makes them irrelevant, in the sense that you know you have that back-up or those options to swing the game back in your favour. It's been a fascinating test series. One of the best I've seen in a very long time, despite enduring the loss. Who knows what's gonna happen with your top 4 or when Anderson stops playing but what a player Sam Curran is and will go on to be. The potential there is obviously clear to see and he's gonna be great to watch with the way he continues. Can see him being a mainstay in the team. In my heart I was hoping we could match it up to 2-2 so that we could have one of the all-time great deciding tests. Not to be but going to the first day at The Oval so now just gotta hope we see some good cricket! Seeing Kohli succeed so much as well has been pleasing on the eye. Trouble with our test squad is that there's not much discipline and patience when it comes to batting further down the order. We don't bat deep and usually if the top/middle-order don't get the runs, you won't see the lower order get them either. With England you have the aforementioned players to make stands and build some resilience. Consistency of other players to support Kohli isn't there. It's good to have a player take the weight off him sometimes but it needs to be more often! Suppose at the end of the day, you just have to appreciate how much we've been treated when it comes to what we've watched over the last 6 weeks. I've enjoyed it! Congratulations @Voll Blau @MattP @Bert @Izzy Muzzett @marko @Max Wall @ealingfox @Bobby Hundreds and whoever else I may have missed for which I apologise for!
Bert Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 It’s a shame we can’t win away. Glad it’s wrapoed up but would have loved to win in a decider. Kohli so massive for India. Top order needs sorting. India battled hard and made us bring out our best when having to win scrappy. Time to give the failed top order a last chance next test or get new blood in?
Brainy Posted 2 September 2018 Posted 2 September 2018 Just keep it the same instead of bring in somebody new who fails on debut which will invite the media to sharpen their knives
