Good move for him if true. They are still a huge club with a lot of history.

Can't help but feel that Morgan should look for a similar move too. A championship club like Derby, Villa, Boro etc.

Can't really blame him for wanting to see out his contract though

I think keeping Morgan on the books for another year is sensible. Assuming he'll be a 4th choice CB (Maguire, Evans, plus the rumours of a 3rd CB incoming), he's more than adequate to play that part in the squad. I'd remove the Captaincy from him a give that to a first team player but still keep involved in the squad. Changing the Captain and Morgan leaving altogether in the same window is quite a big change. Reckon he'll see out his contract, like you say, and then go on a free next season.

Morgan should definitely remain as the club captain.

He's hugely respected within the squad.

He isn’t being paid currently so how can he take a wage cut?

Willing to take a cut on the wage he was being paid here.

A lot of players will often want at least what they were earning at their last club.

Unless :

They've been carrying an injury for most of the last season.

Are aged 33

Were released by their last club

Have dropped a division

Former Leicester City and Chelsea defender Robert Huth started in Stoke City’s pre-season victory over Macclesfield Town, increasing rumours that he will re-sign for his former club.

The game was played behind closed doors, with new Potters boss Gary Rowett naming a different XI for both halves. His starting XI did include German central defender Huth, who has been training with the club.

Huth’s contract at 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City expired at the end of June, and the Foxes decided not to renew it.

The former German international struggled to make any real impact at the Kingpower Stadium last season, with captain Wes Morgan and England hero Harry Maguire making up Leicester’s first choice central defensive partnership.

Consequently, Huth has been allowed to move on, and has been linked with a move to a Sky Bet Championship club for a number of weeks now.

Another one of his former clubs, Middlesbrough, had reportedly been interested, with Aston Villa and Derby County also keen, but it appears that Stoke City have taken a step in the right direction by picking him for their pre-season victory over Football League newcomers Macclesfield Town.

Huth boasts a wealth of experience, and a move to Stoke will see him re-unite with former central defensive partner Ryan Shawcross, who remains at the club.

The pair formed a formidable partnership during Huth’s previous spell at the club, and the Stoke City fans will be hoping for more of the same this season as the club aim to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Hope this dosen't mean I have to despise Huth as much as I do Stoke. I suppose it's something of a comfort zone for him, but I think he's still up to playing in the Premier League (just not for us).

Didn't play against Walsall on Saturday for Stoke.

He unfortunately picked up a thigh strain last week, Stoke are hopeful it's short term.
