This thread kind of provides an answer to your question.

I know, just think it sad that a players who wanted out for two season, and has made it know, seems more important to some fans than current players.

I know his a Legend like Kante, Hutu et al, but he gone.

I don't think it's that. It represents a sea change, I think it's very understandable that people are processing it. Feelings don't just stop because someone left, I wanted to leave my ex but truly separating took years.

they've not spent 60m on a player just to put him on the bench. surely he'd start mahrez over sterling. i don't care how well sterling did last season but he's no way near the level of mahrez.

Don Danbury ? ...    unusual name for an Algerian  ...    :)

Different players. Sterling can do stuff playing as a second striker that Riyad just doesn’t need have in his locker. I think pep will look to push sterling inside this season and play less. Mahrez will take the RW slot most of the time as a starter.

Seems my simple comment was removed - bizzare! I remember lots of ex-players threads being transferred to gen foot without a problem, but even if not, no need to remove the post is there, prevents someone else from posting the same "reasonable" comment?

Anyway, the guy has moved onwards and upwards to a big club. Good for him.

I don't think the doomsayers who have been quoting relegation for us over the last 2 years when he left will get their wish, pretty sure we'll still challenge for top 7, Leicester has never been one player and never will be.

I'm looking forward to this season even more than I was last year.

Me too, I actually think we have stagnated for a couple of seasons. The playing squad has need a overall haul for a good 18 months.

Mahrez whilst a wonderful player, has been playing with the handbrake on for two seasons.

We need to reinvest the money wisely on a couple of attacking options.

I think unless you are one of the big six, you have to have one eye on keep out of trouble.

pretty sure he never started on the bench, just ended up being average and got ripped off. plus mahrez is proven in this league and cost double what he cost.

The point is - just because Mahrez is Manchester City‘s current record signing doesn‘t automatically guarantee him a starting spot.

Slimani is proven when you look at his stats on average/per game.

And as far as the transfer fee is concerned, £60m for the Sky Blues is £25m to us. It‘s all relative.

It’s only a matter of time now until we all realise how important Mahrez was to the way we play. I really hope we’re seriously looking at someone to come in and try to fill his shoes.
