Different players. Sterling can do stuff playing as a second striker that Riyad just doesn’t need have in his locker. I think pep will look to push sterling inside this season and play less. Mahrez will take the RW slot most of the time as a starter.

Pep likes players to be on the wing where there stronger foot is. He'll want him on the left wing.

I think Claude likes this set up also.

The point is - just because Mahrez is Manchester City‘s current record signing doesn‘t automatically guarantee him a starting spot.

Slimani is proven when you look at his stats on average/per game.

And as far as the transfer fee is concerned, £60m for the Sky Blues is £25m to us. It‘s all relative.

fair enough, but slimani was not proven at all in this league when he signed.  60m is still their record signing. hard to imagine that pep would try this hard to get him only to start him on the bench.

I can't believe after that saga of shit we only got 60 for him when Richarlison is apparently worth 50 to Everton despite being pony most of last season. ****ing joke.

Its beyond ridiculous that we only got 60 million for RM this, bearing in mind that Richarlison is looking at going to Everton for 50 million. We had our hand forced probably by Mahrez himself. With his stats at least 80 million would've been a more fairer price.

Unfortunatly its looking like its all about what clubs are prepared to pay and not value and it was a shame that we didnt get a bidding war for him.

50 million for an unproven player with poor form and stats is an absolute joke.

was he any good ?

Only caught the 2nd half.  Apparently he didn't do much in the first 45 and he did very little in the 2nd till he was subbed off - ironically for Patrick Roberts. But the whole squad was sleepwalking through the match.

Not sure it’s quite the same tbh. Man City are owned by a country who sponsor the team with their own companies and are able to set prices which mean they are able to fiddle FFP. They’ve rapidly built up a top 6 team and have not built it up over years/decades. Their success is entirely down to recent money spent rather than prolonged growth of a club over years and decades. Not quite sure how this won’t continue for Man City such is the wealth of their owners compared to even that of the rest of the top 6, never mind the rest of us.

Yeah, that's fair comment.

I watched it from about the 30m mark. He had a few defence-splitting passes and two trademark free-kicks that were inches wide. Thought he looked good to be honest!

Can't believe this threads still here! He's gone, he is no more and the rest of the Monty Python sketch. He keeps bobbing up like Len Fairclough at your local swimming baths (or an unwanted turd). Fed up of hearing about some other team's player!
