The anonymous graffiti artist creates another mural, this time in Port Talbot.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-46664631

Seems to have been doing this type of thing for years, but only personally got interested in his past outside art projects after an event this year where one of his artwork was sold at Sotheby's and immediately after got automatically shredded in front of many shocked viewers in the gallery.

Anyone else intrigued by his style of work, or just see him as a self-centred prankster?

Clever bloke and amazing how he's still kept his anonymity after all these years.

It’s someone from a band, if you google it there is quite a bit of evidence if I remember rightly.

I approve of what he does - putting art into the public domain, disrupting the everyday routine, stimulating people to think, feel, enjoy.

Whether he's an exceptional artist or not is a matter of opinion. I'd say that he's not in that his work isn't extraordinarily beautiful, stimulating or original.... except in its aforementioned slightly anarchic "public" status, which makes it very worthwhile.

He seems to have become a bit of a victim of his success, though - assuming that the art is his main purpose, not some strange anonymous fame.

Whenever he produces a work now, it's all about its financial value, his identity, protecting the work etc.

His art would be achieving more if he were less well known.

For all who thought his work were too simplistic,  that could be his intentions to create art that can reach and by understood by the wider audience?   I would take that instead of having edgy art with vague yet baffling message.

They were talking about this on Have I Got News For You other week. I was shocked when they said it was someone in a band.

Someone from Massive Attack. It’s as much of a secret as Dave Kitson being the secret footballer.

Apologies for derailing the thread but I doubt Kitson was earning £100k a week when he was at Reading cause I was reading somewhere that was the case where he was earning 100k when his team went down.

I’m not sure about that but it’s Dave Kitson.

It was best part of £100k a month. Could believe he was on between £20k and £25k a week at Reading.

Yeah I did some digging around after Costock Fox's comment and I am a convert now.

I bought a few Juan Sly works, which I really like. They were initially dotted around the house, but my wife has quietly managed to banish them to my man-cave over the last few years.

Rumours a while back were that Sly was Bansky…since debunked, sadly.
